Hello!

I've been a Christian for close to 27 years. For the majority of that time, I've been a member of SBC churches. Generally speaking, I line up quite well with Protestant theology. However, beginning about nine years ago when I was in seminary and taking a church history class, I began to have a growing appreciation for the church fathers and ante-Protestant thought (theology and philosophy) and worship. More recently, maybe the last three years, I've had growing affection for Eastern Orthodoxy (definitely stoked by the Ten Minute Bible Hour series on the Eastern church). I'm still a Protestant, and may never become Orthodox, but I'm looking for a place to learn and have conversations about this and any number of other topics.

Just throwing this out there but Lutherans & Anglicans are Evangelical and firmly embrace the ECF's writings and are liturgical and sacramental.

You may be interested in the Eastern Catholic churches (Byzantine, Ukrainian, Melkite, Syro-Malabar...there's a lot!). The spirituality and liturgy are identical with the Eastern Orthodox, they are just in communion with Rome to make them fully Catholic.

With your background in Protestantism & growing interest in Eastern Christendom, you have quite the journey ahead of you. Approach this journey prayerfully, and thank God now for all the amazing opportunities that it will bring you! No matter where you end up, I promise you will have a deeper appreciation for every line of spirituality you come across.
