  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

  • The rule regarding AI content has been updated. The rule now rules as follows:

Be sure to credit AI when copying and pasting AI sources. Link to the site of the AI search, just like linking to an article.

Hmm... Perhaps I should post some of my history.

I am 18 years old and live in Brazil, a majorly Catholic nation. However, Catholicism here is either not taken very seriously or filled with superstitions, mostly because of public ignorance. On top of that, the Church here is composed mostly of liberal socialist clergymen, even though that is slowly changing (phew).

I was an atheist for most of my life. I used to think there was even no question that God didn't exist. My parents were very atheist too, and I regarded religion as something for the less intelligent.

As I learned more about religions, I gradually became agnostic (certain that I'd never be a christian, though). I searched for information on many neo-pagan sites and even formed my own ideas of how it all worked.
At that same time, I was engaged in many debates in another forum I go to, with many very conservative christians, who in the beggining I abhored, then became used to. In searching for material to prove them wrong, I stumbled some very good Catholic apologetics sites, and the rest is history.

I'm an orthodox Christian now, planning to be baptized in the Catholic Church (once I am, the icon will change accordingly. Until then, I shall go as Christian).

The big obstacle to religion nowadays (perpetrated, what's worse, by so called religious people and even clergymen) is the liberal lie that faith is separated from reason and science. But this is no thread for discussions. I just wanted to tell a bit about myself.

Great to hear!
I can see some similarities for sure, between your background and mine.

Feel free to stop by the Orthodox forum anytime.:)

thanks.

But you do realize that when I use "orthodox" I don't mean Eastern Orthodoxy, right? :)

I merely mean that I follow Christianity strictly (or try to), not like liberal Christians who choose and pick what they'll adhere to.

I wasn't sure. But I took a guess.:)
