This is what I believe.

I believe, that the name "James" has been lost in translations.

The Hebrew word for "life" is phonetically spelled into English as "chaim".

In first translation,
I believe,
"chaim" would translate into "Jame".

Of course, this is my belief.

In the Greek Church (that gave us the Holy Bible) the B (Beta) is pronounced Veeta. The usage would therefore be properly Iakovos.

While no one knows exactly how Koine was pronounced, since Greek is a living language, the Church uses modern Greek pronunciations in readings of the Bible.
