  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I am torn between compassion, mercy, goodness, and spirituality. Not sure which is the fav...all are great (including many more on the list).

Ditto. I'm terrible at choosing favorites. Especially when it comes to something like this.
Many of those virtues are equally important. On top of yours, reason, hospitality, honesty, equity, empathy, the list goes on!

I am inclined to courage. But that is not the courage that is popular today. It is the courage Heinlein valued... Courage is not absense of fear it is doing what what your should in spite of fear. (Absense of fear jsut being stupidity).

Or to paraphrase C.S. Lewis (unless I'm having a great day and hit it perfectly). Courage is all virtues at the testing point.

Though like most virtues it is useless without some other virtues. Courage is having the guts to do what is right when it is not easy, you still need other virtues to inform yuo what is right.

my choice would be love coupled with wisdom.
Love gives us the grace to see the good in others, and wisdom tells us how we should act in that love in order to manifest it correctly, and for the benefit of all.

What's the difference between compassion and mercy?

did you choose your virtue because you lack it yourself or because its your strength?

I chose mine because those are the virtues I strive for in my own life...but have no where near perfected ;)
