Thanks,

CotpicGirl said:Yes, everytime I run across that picture it just amazes me. H.H. Pope Kyrillos VI is just such an amazing person. There are a plethora of stories about the miracles performed through him and his patron saint, St. Mina.

And who is Pope Kyrillos VI? Is he like one of the poast coptic popes? I think so. Which brings me to another question..Why do all these churchs have differnt popes. I mean why cant they al belive the same thing. It's the same bible and basicly it's the same point. Christ died christ rose ur forgiven...Why do we all disagree?
My youngest sister, as a toddler was always sick; Asthma, pneumonias and a lot of infections, and in and out of the hospital for the first 3 yrs of her life. At one point, she was so sick and so dehydrated the Dr.'s had almost lost hope. My mom, who had been keeping vigil at her bedside, holding her hand and continuosly asking for the intercession of the Saints, was forced to go home that night and get some form of rest, incase my sisters condition worsened, she would need some strength. As my mom left the hospital, the Dr.'s told her not to be surprised if when she came back, she found my sister on a ventilator because she was deteriorating so fast.
Of course, like any mother, she couldn't rest, and after making a week's worth of quick meals for us, showering and changing, was on her way back to the hospital, praying, terrified of what kind of condition she would find my sister in. When she got to the room, she was surprised to find my sister up in bed, with a bottle of 7up in her hand, smiling and saying "mama, mama, i'm better, i'm better!"
The Dr.'s told my mom how my sister had all of a sudden started to come around and started to ask for a drink and food, so they started giving her 7up with a spoon and before they knew it, she had almost finished the bottle and her energy was coming back. They kept her in the Hospital for few days, under observation, and then she came home. My parents OF COURSE thanked God for everything ... clearly this was not due to the 7up
Three years later, on the 15 yr anniversary of the departure of HH Pope Kyrollos VI, our grandma in Egypt sent us a large color book with lots of pictures about the Story of His life. My mom sat us down on the couch and started going through the book, translating and telling us the story of this Great Patriarch of our Church, as she flipped the page and landed on a picture of HH in His black garment with His shawl around His head, my sister started asking very anxiously "Mom, who is this, who is this man???" And when my mom asked why she was asking in such a panic, especially after hearing the story, she answered and said, "Because that time I was in the hospital, ...very sick, and ...you prayed with me then left, after you were gone, HE came into my room, and hit me on my stomach with His big walking stick and said "Get up, you're better now" and he picked me up and rocked me until I fell back asleep, and when I did get up, I felt much better."
CotpicGirl said:Why doesn't everyone believe the same thing? Because everyone's interpretation is different. The Bible is not like addition. We all know that 2+2=4. But with the Bible, there are so many parables, and everything isn't so simple all the time. To make matters worse, the Bible was not originally written in English. So what you and I are reading is a translation. People argue on translations as well. Another reason people don't agree, some people think the church should change with society and modernize. They think the teachings should change. Another reason, some churches like the Catholics and Orthodox belief in Tradition, whereas Protestants in general don't believe in any authority other than the Bible.

Different "Popes" is not the same thing as different "denominations." For example, Roman Catholics and Protestants disagree with the Orthodox. The Pope of Rome himself disagrees in dogma with all other denominations.
However, the only other "Popes" that are in agreement are the Coptic Pope of Alexandria and the Greek Pope of Alexandria. There are also many patriarchs in different areas that agree and are not divided. What's great about our Orthodox Church is that we do not have "one head" of the Church that is a fallible human. The Only Head of the Church is Jesus Christ.
Now as for HH Saint Pope Kyrillos, may I add he lived during the Marian Apparitions in Zeitoun, Egypt. I am not surprised Marian apparitions appeared during his time and his prayers for his congregation.
God bless.
One day the head mother of one of the convents (monasteries for nuns) wanted to speak to him on the phone, but the staff wouldn't give out his private number. Anba Kyrillos appeared to her in a vision, gave her the number and comforted her. She did not call, but later on she was blessed by seeing him and was rendered speechless when Anba Kyrillos asked her the reason she did not call on his private line.
Miracles of heeling and casting out of devils from a non-Christian young lady was related to me by a very dear relative. She was the daughter of his boss in a textile factory near Alexandria. She was one of 22 children, possessed by demons and was withering away. Her father loved her very much. He spent a fortune on real doctors and witch doctors as well, with no results. On day, he called my relative to his office and said, you have "Sheik Kebeer" (Great Elder)? can you introduce me to him? My relative promised to arrange a meeting, he traveled to Cairo and arranged with the pope's secretary a meeting for the afternoon of a specified date. He was supposed to meet them at the door and introduce them to the staff to take them to the house of the patriarchate. The people were very anxious, they arrived early. His Holiness recognized them although he was not told (ordinarily, people were brought in, and they told him their needs). Anba Kyrillos called the young lady by her first name. Put his cross on her forehead, she fell down sobbing. From that moment on, she was completely whole.
