One day a man and his wife enter the hospital preparing for his wife to give birth. Upon entering the hospital the husband realizes that they have not picked a name. Knowing from previous testing that they are going to have a son he quickly goes through the Bible looking for a good name. Joseph, Adam, Noah, Daniel are all wonderful names he thought but he wanted something a little different. Finally he found it in the Bible, "Oded." Thinking it was too much he dropped the "ed" and kept "Od."
After their son was born the doctor asked the name that they wanted placed on the birth certificate. "Od" the father replied. Are you sure asked the doctor. Yes I'm sure. The doctor went out and told the nurses and they all burst into laughter. Regardless the doctor wrote the name on the birth certificate and brought it back to the parents.
Growing up "Od" had a horrible childhood. Children made fun of him at school because of his name. Even when he got a job people made fun of his name so that he went from job to job. Dating and relationships were much the same as every girl he dated made fun of his name, except for one. They eventually married and lived a happy life. One day he told his wife, all my life people have made fun of my name. When I die all I want you to put on my tombstone is the date I was born and the date I died. Sure enough two weeks later he passed away and she honored his request by having only the date of his birth and death put on the stone.
Now when people walk through the cemetary they look at the tombstone and say, "Well look that's odd!"
