"If my prople, who are called by My name, humble themselves and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14)
"Jesus "was praying at a certain place, and when he ceased, one of his disciples said to him, 'Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.'"1 In response to this request the Lord entrusts to his disciples and to his Church the fundamental Christian prayer..." (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2759)
"The Lord's Prayer is the most perfect of prayers. . . . In it we ask, not only for all the things we can rightly desire, but also in the sequence that they should be desired. This prayer not only teaches us to ask for things, but also in what order we should desire them.". (Thomas Aquinas, cf. CCC 2763)
The Catechism has a beautiful section dedicated to commentary on one of Jesus' countless gifts to us, the Lord's Prayer. I've copied part of it here, and included the link to all of this fantastic passage:
Catechism of the Catholic Church - The summary of the whole Gospel
May God bless us all, through all that we read & pray!
