  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The next time you hear some parent complaining that their child is mis-behaving, simply smile at them, and say: "Why are you so upset? Don't you understand that your child is under GRACE, not law!" ROTFL!!!!

I love that one.

I also like the one that occurred during the French revolution when a representative of the humanists approached Charles Talleyrand to try to have the humanist beliefs enshrined as the nation's official religion. Talleyrand responded that if the representative could get himself accused of something he did not do, be executed for it and then raise himself again after three days he might consider the offer.

It was his comeback, but I cannot recall what the original comment was in the speech. Perhaps someone else might recall the context of that speech. Actually it sounds like it could be a Bushism today

The atheists are right about the birth of Jesus being a myth???? Repent!

Wait until they start saying the same about the Torah festivals, which invoke and can fit the same accusation, then let's see how you react!


Of course, they will be more hesitant to attack Judaism because the Church always turns the other cheek when attacked. The ADL doesn't. ..and of course they will never attack the Muslims. Atheists always pick soft targets.
