  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

i was wondering if anyone knows of a place on this site or on another site of GRE forums.

GRE is a test that you have to take to get into graduate school... kinda like SAT of Highschool

~Natsumi lam~

I took my physics GRE a year ago. This year I took the General GRE, as well as the mathematics GRE. The general test is pretty easy. The math section was a breeze (though the fact that my degrees are physics and math might have something to do with that). I didn't have to study very much on the verbal or writing sections to do well either. I studied for about two weeks, and personally I think that's all you need to do well.

The subject tests are a bit different. Despite the fact that I detest math, I strangely happen to be very good at it, so the math subject test didn't seem to hard. The physics test, on the other hand, was quite the nightmare. Essentially they expected us to remember everything from freshman through junior years. Unlike the SAT from high school, there aren't really that many tricks or secrets to the subject tests. Either you know the material or you don't. I would recommend at least a month of study for your subject test.

Well, if you have any questions about the GRE, let me know, and I'll see if I can help you out. Good luck, by the way.

(Oh, and in case anyone is wondering why I took two subject tests. This Summer I had a misguided desire to go to graduate school in math. But after coming close to the end of my last set of classes for my math degree (and, unfortunately, after taking the test), I came to the realization that math is evil, and regained my resolve to go to apply for physics graduate school as I'd originally planned.)
