  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I think I answered some of this in your other thread, but another suggestion I have is to talk to the faculty and/or students at the prospective schools. A question I like to ask relative to pretty much anything (school, cars, restaurants, etc.) is "would you go there/buy the car/eat there again?" If the students hesitate, run. If the person in any of those situations hesitates, run.

It's a big thing to take on and don't just jump because it looks okay. Make sure you're a good fit in the school and the school's a good fit for you.

Find out the faculty member's research interests and the focus of the department in general. If you're interested in experimental psych and the faculty at the school you're interested in are solely into behavior mod or even physiological psych, you probably won't be happy there -- even if they classes in experimental psych (like one or 2; more is a separate issue, but you take my meaning).

Research, research, research. Grad rates, placement rates, licensure pass rates, and cost of living in the cities where the school is that you're thinking of attending are all things to look into.
