  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello, Friend!

Welcome to Grace Chapel. We're so glad you're here with us!

Christ has told us these words: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30.

We take these words seriously at Grace Chapel. This is a place of solace and meditation, of comfort and of praise. We ask only one thing, please keep your mouth closed and your heart open to God. Leave your pride and sharp words at the door and head on in to the sanctuary where you can lift up your hearts in prayer to God, in confession to God, in praise of God, or whatever moves your spirit. This is a space to open your heart and feel His presence. If you want to share a hymn with us, then lift up your voice. If you want to pray, lay down your burden. If you want to share Scripture, let us all rejoice in God's Word revealed to us. If you have something else to say to God, go ahead. We're open and loving here.

This is a place of rest, and a house of prayer. The doors of Grace Chapel are open any time, day or night. If you're a sinner, this is the place for you! Let God give you His peace and comfort you under His wing.

It's up to all of us to keep Grace Chapel open and alive. We hope you visit us often and we'll praise God as a family together.

:prayer:

Oh, most holy God, you are so wonderful to me. You have blessed me more than I can ever say. I was thinking tonight, God, about the splendor of your majesty . . . and yet, you love lil me and you care about my life . . . it really matters to you. When I was walking out in the snow tonight, I was remembering this hymn. It's one of my favorites and I want to share it with you tonight:

Oh, Lord, my God
When I in awesome wonder
Remember all the world Thy hands have made
I see the stars
I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout the universe displayed
Then sings my soul
My Savior, God to thee
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
Then sings my soul
My Savior, God to thee
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!

You are great, God! Thank you for loving even me. :)

Luther's Evening Prayer

In celebration and remembrance of your Baptism, make the sign of the cross and pray...

I give thanks to you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ your dear Son, that you have graciously protected me today, and I ask you to forgive me all my sins, where I have done wrong, and graciously to protect me tonight. For into your hands I commend myself: my body, my soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel be with me, so that the wicked foe may have no power over me. Amen.

Peace

O LORD, how great are thy works! [and] thy thoughts are very deep. Psalms 92:5

The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, [wherewith] he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved. Psalms 93:1

Psalm 61:1-3

The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion-
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the LORD
for the display of his splendor.

Garments of Praise--Robin Mark

Put on the garments of praise
For the spirit of heaviness
Let the oil of gladness flow down
From Your throne
Put on the garments of praise
For the spirit of heaviness
Your joy is my strength alone
My strength alone

Make these broken weary bones
Rise to dance again
Wet this dry and thirsty land
With a river
Lord our eyes are fixed on You
We are waiting
For Your garland of grace
As we praise Your name

Hallelujah
Sing hallelujah
To Your name
Hallelujah Sing hallelujah
We trade our sorrows
For garments of praise

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, Lord God of power and might: Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

GOD claims Earth and everything in it, God claims World and all who live on it.
He built it on Ocean foundations,
laid it out on River girders.

Who can climb Mount GOD?
Who can scale the holy north-face?
Only the clean-handed,
only the pure-hearted;
Men who won't cheat,
women who won't seduce.

GOD is at their side;
with GOD's help they make it.
This, Jacob, is what happens
to God--seekers, God--questers.

Wake up, you sleepyhead city!
Wake up, you sleepyhead people!
King-Glory is ready to enter.

Who is this King-Glory?
GOD, armed
and battle-ready.

Wake up, you sleepyhead city!
Wake up, you sleepyhead people!
King-Glory is ready to enter.

Who is this King-Glory?
GOD of the angel armies:
he is King-Glory.

He came to live, live a perfect life
He came to be the living Word of light
He came to die, so we'd be reconciled
He came to rise to show His power and might
And that's why we praise Him, that's why we sing
That's why we offer Him our everything
That's why we bow down and worship this King
'Cause He gave His everything
'Cause He gave His everything

He came to live, live again in us
He came to be our conquering King and Friend
He came to heal and show the lost ones His love
He came to go prepare a place for us.

That's why we praise Him, that's why we sing
That's why we offer Him our everything
That's why we bow down and worship this King
'Cause He gave His everything
'Cause He gave His everything

And that's why we praise Him, that's why we sing
That's why we offer Him our everything
That's why we bow down and worship this King
'Cause He gave His everything
'Cause He gave His everything

Halle Hallelujah...

Personal prayer time:

Oh, most merciful and loving God, I ask that in your infinite goodness you will forgive me of my sins and keep me closely under your wing. God, you know my heart. You know that I try so hard to be all that you want me to be as your child, and you know how often I fail. I'm so sorry for upsetting you and disappointing you. I will always strive to do better, Father. God, please forgive me and have mercy upon me. God, I ask this day that your will be done in my life and in the world. I ask that you spare me tribulation and temptation by evil, and that you will give me the power of perseverence, patience, understanding, compassion, and great faith. You know my faith often lags. Father, please strengthen my faith in you and in my trust in your will. I ask, Lord, that you be with all of those who suffer and mourn, are starving and thirsty, and naked in the heat and cold. Be with the children of the world who suffer abuse and comfort them. Be with the adults of the world who hurt each other with words or actions, and I pray that all will come to know you and the peace I've found in you. Bless our earthly resources, Lord, so that all can live in plenty and in peace. Bless our leaders, and help them to make wise decisions in their leadership. Help them to show mercy and compassion. And lastly, Father, bless my family and those whom I love as friends. I ask that you keep them safe in your care always. Spare them physical and spiritual tribulation, and give them protection and peace. Father, please send your angels to guard their footsteps, and Lord, I ask you to please guard their hearts. Help them to have great faith and comfort in you, their salvation and Lord. For my friends and family members who don't know you, I pray with all of my being, that you will soften their hearts and open their eyes to you. Thank you, God, for your many blessings. Thank you for my most treasured blessing, my husband Timothy. Oh, Father, I can never thank you enough for sending him to my life. I pray that you will continue to bless our relationship and marriage, and help us always to keep you first in both of our lives. Help us to make wise choices and to always ask you for help. Please take care of Emily in London, and keep her safe from all harm of terrorists. Please help Tim to do well on his upcoming presentation and exams. Please help me to know what your will is concerning a job, and if it is your will that I should get a job, please let me know where to go for one. You know this has been troubling me for some time now. Please be with our parents and bless them. Help us to always be kind, patient, compassionate, and understanding with everyone--slow to anger and quick to praise and build up. Thank you for hearing me, Father, and for keeping me in your love. Help me to always walk in your ways, now and all the days of my life. And help all of your saints to keep courage and faith in you, and bless them for their efforts so that more lost souls will come to know your love for them. Please watch over us in all that we do. In Christ's most holy and precious name I pray. Amen.

John said to him, "Teacher, we saw a man casting out demons in your name, and we forbade him because he was not following us." But Jesus said, "Do not forbid him; for no one who does a mighty work in my name will be able soon after to speak evil of me. For he that is not against us is for us."

2 Sam 6: 14 David, wearing a linen ephod, danced before the LORD with all his might, 15 while he and the entire house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouts and the sound of trumpets.
16 As the ark of the LORD was entering the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul watched from a window. And when she saw King David leaping and dancing before the LORD , she despised him in her heart.

20 When David returned home to bless his household, Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him and said, "How the king of Israel has distinguished himself today, disrobing in the sight of the slave girls of his servants as any vulgar fellow would!"
21 David said to Michal, "It was before the LORD , who chose me rather than your father or anyone from his house when he appointed me ruler over the LORD's people Israel-I will celebrate before the LORD . 22 I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes. But by these slave girls you spoke of, I will be held in honor."

Father, give me the courage and humility to become undignified for your sake in accordance with your will and purpose.

Soul of Christ, sanctify me
Body of Christ, save me
Blood of Christ, drench me
Water from the side of Christ, wash me
Passion of Christ, strengthen me
O good Jesus, hear me
Within Thy wounds hide me
Suffer me not to be separated from Thee
From the malicious enemy defend me
In the hour of my death call me
And bid me come unto Thee
That I may praise Thee with Thy saints and with Thy angels
Forever and ever

Amen

Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive the trespasses against us,
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.

Amen.

Lamentations 3:

22 Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
24 I say to myself, "The LORD is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him."
