No, it won't affect me. I don't necessarily "blame" anyone. I think each side could concede on the ridiculous difference in the total $ number they want cut.

It could cause the places we were going to hike this weekend to be closed, which would be annoying, but I'm sure we could figure out something else to do with the time.

I'm going to be in serious trouble if the mail stops. Personally it's all about the next election and the next election only. When we were setting record debts 6,7,8 years ago no one said a darn word about it. NOW out of nowhere is it a problem. It's political theater and it's a darn shame.

My wife is a federal employee, so a shut down would've been a big deal. We were paying pretty close attention all day yesterday and breathed a sigh of relief when we heard a deal was finally reached.

It would have affected us because a sizable chunk of our income is my h's retirement pay from the military.

Both side of the House are at fault. They are acting like bratty children. Ugh.

I would like the entire country to rise up, kick out the lot of them, and choose an entirely new government. One thing disqualifying people from serving is that they are politicians because politicians suck.

Frankly, we NEED the government to shut down. Like any system that goes awry, sometimes what you need to get rid of memory leaks (computer ref), viruses, trojan horses, malware, etc. is to shut it down, reboot, clean up the registry by deleting all unwanted files, nuisances, executables and such. For a real good cleaning, a complete re-format of the hard drive is truly one's best option. Clean the whole system out and start over.

Uh no, it doesn't shut down ten times a year. That's called a federal holiday.

As to your second paragraph, that is not how it works. A government shutdown would have been equivalent to unplugging the computer. Doesnt change the fact that the viruses are still there. Using your voting power to fire the incumbents and hire fresh new blood would be the equivalent of your computer analogies.

I think if there is "government shutdowns" the first thing that SHOULD SHUTDOWN is the Congress Pay...then just maybe people can actually discuss and a few compromises to get any ISSUES resolved as quickly as possible. God forbid they miss one paycheck...

Overrated or not, it's still the career path for thousands of people. I know in my neck of the woods alone, they cut over 700 more jobs this week. Area companies are hiring specifically for and offering retraining for displaced space workers. I don't think NASA is something that should just be obliterated in one fell swoop.

I AM a Govt worker, & believe me, it hurts to say it, but SOME jobs need to be cut & others better utilized. When we get over this attitude that it's the govt's responsibility to stimuliate the economy, we'll be alot better off. We are DEEEEP in debt & just like at home one day you gotta pay the piper. There are ways to increase revenue w/o new taxes, but at some point NON-essential GOVT (Which is most of em) need to be cut-I mean CUT OUT.

If it does not involve/effect EVERY state, then the FEDS really need to re-exam their involvement in ANY issue.

The Churches should be doing their part-(Rather than sending chiors on ski trips-just one example) & CRIME needs to PAY- from liter, to dead-beat parents to drug dealers. If the local churches would take care of the local communities more, we could do alot better. We also need to STOP enabling corruption in politics, by making demands (Why do we still need an electoral college?) and making VOTES count.

Do we really need TEA POT musems?, Can NASA take a CUT? As States & as a Nation we need to make First Things First, & do what we can do well RAHTER than do many things half-way. Go to CAGW & register-you'd be amazed at what PORK there really is!
