• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Got some tickets...now I am poor!

Alright I just got back from ticketmaster and got:

Overkill - $20
Sonata Arctica - $20
Manowar - $40
BW and Bk day 2 - $35 Exciter, Jag Panzer, Trouble, Death Angel, & Raven (I am not going to Friday cause I only want to see Dark Tranquility and all the other bands aren't worth it).

Still hanging in the balance is Ozzfest (once they get the Cleveland date), but this one is still pending. Iron Maiden is at ozzfest, and Black Sabbath, also of interest to me is Arch Enemy and In Flames.

Also rumor is that Kamelot is going to have a US tour, no word yet. And hopefully a Judas Priest US tour!

:( me = broke!

Compared to the $160 price for U2 tickets be happy - you're getting a lot more music for your money. :)

If you want to listen to secular heavy metal it is your choice. As a Christian it took me three years to give it up. I used to listen to Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, Pantera etc. As a Christian I justified this music as God given talent but they are glorifying the darkness.

Read 2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with the darkness?

This music can weaken our Christian commitment, integrity, and standards. Should we listen to these bands when we are in church? This music can divide our loyalties. We can't live in the light and the dark. There is no in between zone.

Before you get all mad I am just warning you of the effects of this music. You will most likely continue to listen to these bands but if you open a gateway you will be sorry.

Jesus hung out with the worst of the worse. He ministered to the prostitutes and the tax collectors. How can we reach these people if we don't go anywhere near them?

edit - oh, and enjoy the show ;)

This is a great point and if you are going to witness then it is ok. But if we are going to listen to the music and using the witness card as an excuse to go then what are we doing. Do we spend $50 to go and witness only. Come on. If you are really going to witness only then I commend your bravery. Just be careful because if you get singled out as a Christian in that atmosphere and get cornered by a group of non-believers or even worse anti-christian Satanist's what are you going to do.

There is that old saying of a Lamb amongst wolves. Just be careful.

How is Pantera Glorifying Darkness??? All I hear is anger.... The only pantera album I listen to is the one with the RESPECT song on it, I cant recall the name of the album at the moment, But its far from glorifying darkness and it has an awesome songlist...

What if you went away and took your false opinions with you? That would certainly be nice.

Ozzfest would totally be worth it, In flames/killswitch alone..

Romans 12:14 Bless those who persecute you. Bless and do not curse.

For you to tell me to leave because you don't like my opinion than you are cursing me. Do you know what cursing means?

Cursing- to pronounce a sentence; a condemnation or judgement.

Cursing isn't limited to words of frustration and anger. When we curse someone we are judging them and condemning ourselves. We are all guilty of it but some of us have to swallow are pride and learn from the truth of the bible.

I forgive you for cursing me and be careful not to continue judging others because they don't tell you what you want to hear.

I currently am holding 5 tickets to 4 separate dates of NINs upcoming sold out club tour. Both places I am seeing them are less than 1,700 seat clubs.

Do you know what Nine Inch Nails means? It is mocking the death of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is appaling at what we try to justify as tolerable.

I thought you were removing yourself from this Christian Forums? I gave you the benefit of the doubt, but I guess I was right - it was all for show and drama. :sigh:

I reject your forgiveness. I dont need it or want it. My comment stands. Go be 'high and mighty' and 'better than everyone else' SOMEWHERE else.

You are both pharisaical and misinformed. Step outside your christian bubble for once.

The origin of the name Nine Inch Nails has been widely speculated over the years. Some argue it refers to the length of a coffin nail (or nails used in crucifixion). After tossing around 200 monikers for several weeks, Reznor found that Nine Inch Nails kept ringing in his head. He has also quipped that it looked great in print, was easy to abbreviate, and "it's a lot cooler name than Trent Reznor." "It's a curse trying to come up with band names," says Reznor.

I bet you think KISS stands for 'Knights In Satans Service', and AC/DC means 'After Christ Death Comes'.

Leave like you said you would, and go back to reading Jack Chick tracts.

Pantera used to be my favorite band. I have a Pantera tattoo on my right forearm. It has a snake and skull with a huge confederate flag in the backround.

If you read the lyrics you will see the glorification of darkness. There first song recorded is called "Cowboys from Hell". Think about it.

They have another song named "Heresy". A song that mocks Christianity.

On Vulgar display of Power which you were refering to song #10 is called By demons be driven. Singing about how demons run their lives. I used to know all the lyrics for this album. Through the renewing of my mind by the spirit of God I have learned to block them out and don't even think about them anymore.

On Far Beyond Driven they have alot of Anti-Christian lyrics on the B side. All their lyrics are Anti-Christian but they have some references in some songs to the word Christian. There overall message and the intent of the band was to promote drugs, alcohol, violence, and to party hardy which are all pushed on us by the devil. The devil comes not but to seek, destroy, and to kill.

Remember Lucifer was the top angel in heaven. He was in charge of music and praise. What do you think his best deceptive technique in our lives will be? All the lyrics of Pantera glorify his techniques of destruction.

There talent as musicians was phenomenol but they glorify the devil and his demons. This isn't being written to offend your music preference but just to show you that according to the bible their lyrics are anti-christianity.

Song 4 on Vulgar Display of Power is called F**king Hostile. Maybe you can sing that at church during your worship service. This isn't meant to be judgmental but if we can't listen to it at church then why can we listen to it in our own personal time. Jesus knows our every thought and every move.

Read Galatians 5:22 which talks about the fruits of the spirit of Jesus, Love, Joy, Peace etc.

Read 2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? Ask yourself these questions.

Read Romans 12:17 Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. We can't satisfy everyone's needs and opinions but if 99% of people disagree with what message Pantera is trying to get across through music and the bible clearly states that they are glorifying themselves and the darkness then how can we listen to it.

I used to me a Christian Secular Metal Head but Now that I know the truth the truth has set me free. John 8:32 The bible states the truth of the error in this music and it is time to wake up and smell the coffee.

So what are your thoughts on Metallica? Im a big fan of them, and just because I've listened to Pantera, does'nt necessarily mean I agree with alot of what they are saying...
