  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In the world many things are accounted as valuable. Treasures of jewels, precious metals, ores, land, money, wealth of every kind. Yet all of these pass - or more accurately, we pass away and cannot take our possessions with us. What then can we take with us when we die? Could it be the goodness we leave behind, the kindnesses we showed that are remembered, the gifts of time, prayer, food, and patience that made the life of others richer.

Today a friend aged 88 years, died. May the Lord grant her eternal rest. What she left behind is her goodness remembered by those who knew her. And remembered by God. The Lord, Jesus Christ, taught us
Do not choose to store up for yourselves treasures on earth: where rust and moth consume, and where thieves break in and steal. Instead, store up for yourselves treasures in heaven: where neither rust nor moth consumes, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there also is your heart. The lamp of your body is your eye. If your eye is wholesome, your entire body will be filled with light. But if your eye has been corrupted, your entire body will be darkened. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great will that darkness be! No one is able to serve two masters. For either he will have hatred for the one, and love the other, or he will persevere with the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.
Matthew 6:19-24
Goodness matters. It ought to be our lasting desire and constant work.

I'm sorry for yoy loss, the hope we share is that we will meet in heaven.

Yes we need to consitently live a life grounded in Jesus and in his goodness.
To show love to those who are hostile towards us requires being rooted and built up in him.
