  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I want to pose a question. Can we truly know goodness, love, etc. Without having experienced evil, hate etc. If so then does that mean that Adam and Eve were set up to fail? Were they supposed to, and what if they hadn't how could we know we loved God because hes right if we had never known evil, how did they?

The Bible tells us that all things are for Gods glory. I believe that includes the fall.

If there was never a fall man could never have known the holiness, righteousness, justice and mercy of God.

I do not believe evil in itself exists, but is rather a twisted version of Good; In the same way that lies (by definition) do not exist and are merely a twisted version of the truth. If such is so, we can indeed experience good and know truth without havign to be exposed to evil or lies. Adam and Eve were exposed to these things by the father of lies. If satan had not exposed them to this, there would have been no need for the cross. Which was a part of God's plan, since he knew they would be decieved and by their will wold choose sin. God gave them the ability to choose, because He loved them. Simply knowing what they would choose does not mean He set them up. And if it is said God did nothing about their choice, The truth of the cross is being ignored or evaded in that statement.

The only problem is that evil and good are very loosely defined terms. I personally think that you may be correct in a way but how much or how little evil is neccesary to know, experience, and appreciate good is an open question...

We can know what something is without experiencing it, but maybe we can not really know what it feels like.

Eg. We know what abortion is but that doesn't mean abortion has effect our life.

Adam and Eve were given free will, just like we are. No not set up to fail, maybe setup to make mistakes though.
