  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

How many of you frequent the dogpark with your dog (s)? There's people who go that get involved with the people there and others like me that are nice to the folks but don't really know much about them. Then again, some people live near the park and are there for 2-3 hrs a day EVERY day. I go to church and bible study and need one night to just get quiet with the Lord. So I go about 3x a week is a good average for me. I don't know any friends that have dogs or I'd invite them to go.....

I've heard people come with dogs that have been mistreated, shelter dogs and they get to liking the park. It's an enclosed area in the park, are you sure there isn't one around you?

Ever since she was a puppy she didn't really like other dogs. I walk her a lot and when people with other dogs stop she's not interested. That could be because she's tired though.
Hmm I'm not completely sure... I guess it might be worth a try if I can find one. :)

My husband and/or I take our dog to the dog park every day. We have gotten to know quite a few people there. We all kind of have our "time". We go after dropping off our daughter at school in the morning and meet all the other early morning folks there. We are our own crowd. LOL. It gives the dog a chance to play with other dogs she has come to know, and she likes them better than dogs that she sees on the off times we go later on in the day. She still likes them and is friendly to them, but she doesn't really know them well.

Is your dog antisocial or aggressive? Most dog parks don't allow aggressive dogs, but lots of dogs that haven't been socialized can go to the park. I often take my friend's dog with me, and her dog isn't the most social dog in the world, but over time she has come to like going, even though she doesn't really play with the other dogs. (She is about 12 years old.)

The apartment building I live in has a small dog park. I take my dogs there occasionally, but usually not when other people are there, just so I am not around random chatty people whom I do not know. There are certain dogs that mine are friends with though. More often we just walk along the river across the road though.

I do not acknowledge, look at, or approach the dog park. The dog park that does not exist.

Er, at any rate, we take our dog for walks in regular parks pretty often during the summer, even though my hometown doesn't have a park specifically for dogs. He really seems to enjoy it. It's his moment more than ours :)

Definitely be sure that you know your dog well before going. Some dogs are great around people, but can turn into totally different personalities around other dogs. Likewise, you never know what kind of dogs will be there, you might wind up with a big, rowdy dog trying to wrestle with your chihuahua, or some ummonitored, unneutered male dog trying to mate with everything that moves. So know your dog, keep an eye on your dog at all times, and don't hesitate to grab your dog and leave if things get too crazy. Some people go to the dog park thinking it's like a sporting event, which dog can wrestle the most other dogs to the ground, whether they like it or not? I've seen people set their big, rowdy dogs loose and just stand back and laugh while they harass and tackle other dogs. Anyway. Just be AWARE.

right on. before Christ came to us, we we're all dog gentiles alienated from God. it's a perfect place to share the Lord with people.

I find it hard sometimes to be part of the conversation if everyone talks at the same time. LOL It's hard to get a word in, any word. But this is Jan. and nothing really happens anyways there.

The dogpark..... Man what a perfect place to evangelize!

I'm trying to say this in a way that doesn't sound like I want to debate serious theological issues here (because I really don't), but "stranger evangelism" isn't really a good idea. I would honestly just feel deeply uncomfortable if someone were to start talking to me about religion or politics and I didn't know them beforehand. I would be polite about it, but it wouldn't be a very deep conversation. There are really only a few friends who I talk to about those things with IRL. That's why I come on here to talk about stuff like that.

So you come here to talk to strangers about religion or politics but you wouldn't talk to a stranger at a dog park about religion or politics?

Pretty much. It's different to talk about something like that with someone in person and with someone online.
