The requirement that the Israelites were not to do any work on the Sabbath for one.

He didn't change that, he just showed how it was supposed to be imposed. Show me where he harvested a field, or anything of the like. He showed what is allowed, he didn't change what isn't. Even today, the Sabbath may be broken if a life is in danger. So NO, he didn't "change" that.

Let me introduce myself

I am a Catholic. My parents are Seventh-day Adventist. I was raised SDA. I became Catholic because it is the only way i could find to obey JESUS command to eat HIS body and drink HIS blood as HE told us to do in John 6.

JESUS said if you love me you will keep my commandments. I am in a constant search to totally understand how JESUS wants me to live. So you will find me asking questions and presenting arguements on both sides of this question.

The sabbath commandment was one of only two positive commandments in the 10. It gives us a day of rest. It commands those of us who are bosses to give our employees a day of rest. this seems good to me.

but mostly and way more than anything else i am ...

all for JESUS!!

colossians 2:14 blotting out the handwritting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it on the cross;[1 cor 2:8] 15 and having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly triumphing over them in it.[eph 4:9] 16 let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holiday, or of the new moon, or the sabbath days:[1 chronicles 23:31] 17 which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ

lonnienord...

You went from being SDA to being Catholic???

Wow...

Those two groups are like oil and water.

I was raised SDA as well, but I no longer wear a denominational "coat". But I do attend a Baptist church now and I'm happy.

I have heard of others who have made the same change, but on the whole it is the other way around.

Can you tell us what made you make such a dramatic turn around?

I know you have said this.

I became Catholic because it is the only way i could find to obey JESUS command to eat HIS body and drink HIS blood as HE told us to do in John 6.

But what about all the other beliefs of the Roman Catholic Church that are so opposite the SDA Church? How do you get around them?

So, are you thn saying that believers are to still "keep" the Sabbath- But they can "keep" it however they want to "keep" it since Jesus did away with all of the legalism surrounding the keeping of the Sabbath?
AmariJah

Jesus did away with the legalism in the keeping of the Sabbath. That does not mean we can keep it anyway we like. Follow what is said in Ex. 20:8-11.

I believe that God has told us in a very direct way how and what we should do on the Sabbath, it can be found in Ex. 20:8-11

Cliff2 asks me: "But what about all the other beliefs of the Roman Catholic Church that are so opposite the SDA Church? How do you get around them?"

First once you experience the powerful experience of recieving the Eucharist you find that that closeness with JESUS is so awesome you can dismiss a lot of the problems. I have always felt that the SDA teaching on the state of the dead was totally wrong (not biblical!)

As hard as confession is to do it is both biblical and such a wondeful relief to be told that GOD has forgiven you your sins.

Baptism is more than just a sign it is a real dispensor of Grace. It is the way we become members of GOD's family so it makes sense to do it to babies. Getting rid of original sins is fantastic and should be done as early in life as possible.

Mary and the saints are in heaven and can pray for us. I believe their being in heaven is biblical. I do not worship Mary (and that is the official position of the Catholic Church we do not worship Mary) but i honor her as the Mother of GOD and figure that as in the first miracle (creating wine at Cana) JESUS listens to her. See: John 2:5.

but all i really need to do and all you really need to do is go sit in a Catholic Church and feel JESUS presence there.

all for JESUS!!

With another 100 pages to go perhaps someone will actually read and respond to the arguments put forward in this post...? (It was conveniently ignored in God's Sabbath Day 1)

Does anyone even understand what the Lord of the Sabbath actually did...???

Yeshua actually came to deliver us from bondage to this limited earth-bound existence. He came to take us from a finite life to an infinite Life. Meaning that when we follow the King of kings that we ultimately step out of this time into the presence of the Ancient of Days who is beyond all time. Once we surrender our hearts and lives to the Savior and Master ~YAHOSHUA~ we step out of ordinary human time, of 24 hours days and 365 days per year, into an entirely new time and place which is referred to the Kingdome of God~ In the Kingdom of God He is the source of Light and Life, there is neither day or night and the hosts of heaven (which ultimately includes every single one of us who accepts Yeshua as Lord!) worship and honor and glorify The Father and The Son without ceasing. i.e. no break- an eternal Sabbath celebration!
For anyone to teach or preach that Christian believers must "keep" the ancient Jewish Saturday sabbath shows great ignorance of God's Living Word... Why? Several reasosn...
(None of you fully "keep" the ancient Jewish Saturday Sabbath anyway- According to God's word, you know that this is true! Unless, like many beofore you, you are willing to compromise some of what is clearly written about the Sabbath!)
#1 Because it would be a rejection of one of the greatest gifts and blessings given to us by our Lord; which is that He delivered us from being locked into the perishable body of clay, into a marvelous Kingdom of limitless Light which is no longer governed by the simple restrictions of this little earths measurement of time.
(It would be like saying, No thanks Lord- I prefer living here in Egypt locked into this perishable body of clay, knowing only the confines of this 3 dimensional world. The supreme arrogance would be to reject the un-bounded freedom available to us as citizens in God's Kingdom for this finite place and time!)
#2 To preach that the laws of Moses are still binding upon a Christian believer is to say that Yeshua didn't set a higher standard- and that He did not pay the price with His life blood, and that He did not establish a NEW AND BETTER COVENANT! (does this mean that a believer would willfully or knowingly go against what is written? Absoulutely not! Nevertheless we are no longer bound by those laws which govern the un-regenerated man because Yeshua has raised the bar and set a new standard!)
#3 By doing so- you would be placing Christian believers under condemnation which is impossible for those who accept the righteousness of Christ. You are like the Judaizers who are concerned that if we fail to "keep" one letter of the ancient law of Moses that we will not enter the Kingdom. (Too late we have already entered the Kingdom, most of us just don't seem to really know it!) It's like telling an eagle, that although he has glorious powerful wings which God gave him to ascend into the heavens, he must now walk everywhere and never fly again!
COME OUT OF EGYPT! Come out from the confinements of this limited and finite space in time and walk with GOD~ just as Enoch and Elijah did before us... they walked right out of this time/space continuum into another.

Only if you are observant, with the intention of gaining salvation.

According to Jesus,

Matthew 5:19

Anyone who breaks on of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Personally, I am not going to teach anyone to break the commandments.

Only if I preached that to observe the Sabbath gained or maintained your salvation. I do not believe this.

I believe that there are blessings that come with obedience to God's ways. Including but definately not limited to observing the Sabbath.

Again, let me state that Sabbath keepers do not keep the Sabbath to be saved but becasue they love God.

God said to keep the Sabbath day holy, we love God and want to do His will.

Colossians 2:6-23 is discussing human regulations, human made regulations, not the law.

Here is a question for you...

Hebrews 12:4
In your struggle against sin

I know this is only part of a verse, but I was right there when the question came to mind. What is sin? How do we know what a sin is? How do we know that killing is a sin? How do we know that rape is a sin? How do we know that these are sins?

Hi AmeriJa, Let me ask questions Please realize i am not trying to make any points i am just trying to understand your rather complicated (for me at least) post: Who are Yeshua and Yahoshua? You say worship and honor and glorify THE FATHER and THE SON without ceasing -- what about the HOLY SPIRIT? Are you saying that the Jews did not keep the Sabbath in Israel? (you say that to keep the sabbath locks us into Egypt) If we have already entered the Kingdom who did JESUS teach us the LORD's prayer which says: "YOUR Kingdom come"?

all for JESUS!!

Hebrew 11:4-32 have other promise than the church

The church has the best promise.....

Jews are the 10 virgins/bride chamber/ wedding party in Matt 9:15 ,Matt 22:1-14

Jew are looking for a King
ester 4:11 decribes King

who is the bride and groom ? eph 5:25-27 the church and Christ

we are promise a closer relationship.

Matthew is primary talking about bringing in the kingdom of the heavens where Christ is King.

yet even with all this preaching of the kingdom of the heavens.

Matt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God

Luke 17:20b The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: 21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or lo there! for, behold the kingdom of God is within you.

Matt 6:13 ....lead us not into tempation....

yet in James 1:2-3 says to count it all joy when we fall in many tempations?

why totally different

why talking to Jews not the Church
church given different abilities / knowledge than the Jews
