• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Check it out, God made a promise to us through Abraham and his seed.

Genesis 17:7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.

Now check out Galatians 3

Galatians 3

1O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
2This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
4Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.
5He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
6Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
7Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
8And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
9So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
10For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
11But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
12And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
13Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
15Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.
16Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
17And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
18For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
19Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
20Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.
21Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
22But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
23But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
24Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
26For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

So then check out God's faithfulness:

Titus 1:2
In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

John 6:40
And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

And also 1 John 2:25
And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.

You see? God won't break His promise with us because of our thoughts or our misdeeds...

God loves us.

:) Hi I've had horrible OCD for many years. I attended one church for many years. I told people about my OCD in the church, as I thought they were experienced Christians and would help me. Many said very devastating things to me, such as you're such a little child ha ha. Or maybe you're retarded. Also, I took many classes at the church to find the answer to OCD. I could go on. But yes, I had the same OCD fear, at one time of blaspheming the Holy Spirit. Fellow Christians would give many, many answers including that I possibly did blaspheme the Holy Spirit. The trouble with regular Christians is that they just say anything that comes to mind, when you confide in them. They have absolutely no idea of the torture of OCD. They just always made things worse. They made me feel worse about my situation. Except for 3 people that were like angels that God sent to help me that were Christians and very sympathetic to my troubles with OCD.
So I don't know the answer. God gives me scriptures all day long, saying He will heal my OCD. Such as Triumphing over the devil by the cross. He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in Christ. No weapon formed against us can prosper. Jesus became a curse for us, to redeem us from the curse of not obeying the law, because cursed is the person that is hung on a tree. But I can't get these scriptures to destroy the devil or ocd in my life. I am at a standstill and have been for quite a few years. With the scriptures being steadily supplied to my mind. But the OCD KILLING ME with torture, constantly, so I don't want to go on. Stalag

I think the people at this church were horribly abusive, incredibly ignorant idiots. There is a part of the brain called the caudus in the brain of OCD patients that failed to develop properly. It is a small part, but important as it contributes to be able to control thoughts & compulsions.

So, I wonder if these idiots would have blamed cancer patients in the same manner? Or diabetics, etc. (Actually, they sound like such a bunch of idiots they probably would have).

So, you cannot help having OCD. But you CAN help whether or not you decide to treat it with meds & cognitive therapies. And if you are tormented, you need to do this. Why torment yourself any longer? Dont you have more important thing you would like to do? It will be a relief to not have to get up at night to check the door to make sure its locked 30 times. And that the burners are off.

And then when you are all well you need to go back to that church & tell them off.
