  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We see it from time to time. Sometimes, seen in a forum like this, the recording of prophesy reproduced in a printed message from some earlier event, since they the prophets are said to “speak” (I Cor 14:29).

This is my understanding of its use today. Often, we are handed the single interpretation. The “two or three” for stronger confirmation are nearly always missing, just one message. In fact, I have never seen a double or triple message for confirmation, and I have seen/heard many. I have only heard a limited number of where more than one did occurred. Possibly different for you, ,

God’s people are to be comforted. Prophesy it is stated as the preferred instrument. When the scriptures state so easily as though within the norm “two or three” being acceptable for the preferred gift, has the full-gospel message fallen short? What I wonder is the reason for this different outcome?

Thoughts?

All God's gifts are 'preferred gifts' and necessary for the church for today. Paul says the gift of prophecy is more profitable in a public meeting than a public utterance in tongues without an interpretation. This why he calls prophecy special

Thank you for the clarification dear Pastor, the use of your wording is agreeable.

But please understand, you and I, and the many who can attest to the witnessing of this edifier for the body should also be able to say yea or nay as to whether or not what we are experiencing today is the biblical explanation of customary norms; i.e. “two or three”?

I’m not saying the solitary report is incorrect, but frequency of it may be more telling than what I or many of us are seeing.

So again, my attempt of focal is centered on a possible miscarriage of understanding. With your reply, you didn’t appear necessarily concerned about the possibility of this being a signal needing agreement, yet here we are on top of a blatant acceptance of two norms for a fairly (“especially”) important gift.

Is the question itself so foreign that it is a frustrating consideration for such a fragile culture of protocol as we now experience? Am I acting as the foe’s advocate by questioning? This is the polar opposite of my objective. This isn’t one of those easily digestible points to discuss, I understand that, yet it still comes with the liberty to judge the message freely,

“, , whether there be prophecies, they shall fail” (I Cor 13:8)

But then I wondered, have I also overlooked something from the more detailed handling of the Greek? I have been known to sample the more scholarly pool of expertise (not saying you aren’t among them) for a more well-rounded view of concerns. If willing to remark further, and that goes for anyone willing to offer opinion please indulge the point I find particularly interesting, that none of the commentators I see bring this numerical handling up, only in the sense of elementary decency of orderliness.

To conclude, I most certainly think it could signal a misconstrued handling of something surround this, whether or not the reader thinks I am reaching to sensationalize or not, you can go jump in the river, we are talking about the health of the Church, for all you who are serious inspectors, my apologies.

Will rest, your comments are always appreciated, thanks for viewing!

God bless!
