CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

First off, if it is god then it means nothing.
If it is God then it means everything to me.
God is so great that I cannot even understand why He does things but I am covered by His grace so I am so blessed.

I was a Christian when I was a kid and for the majority of my teenage years and during this time I could never feel like God loved me. No matter how hard I tried. Honestly, it is strange seeing this concept so important for some people here. My personal belief as a Christian was that life on earth was for suffering and that God would only love you in the afterlife. This was about the only way I could explain my inadequate feelings.

Then you may have believed you were a Christian, but you never accepted or embraced the concept that God loves you "as is"...flaws and all. You didn't have to do anything to deserve this but rather He would (and still would) embrace you if you actually approached Him and accepted His unconditional love. The churches often teach that you have to behave a certain way to earn or deserve God's love but that is a lie and a way that prevents you from totally experiencing God's unconditional love.
This life often provides crap...that is true. But although it is hard to explain, knowing that God loves you enough to make His presence even in the midst of the crap. For me, it meant that as I sat in a final for a class that I was barely passing (and this would have forfeited my graduation by nine months)....and as panic and fear overwhelmed me a test was being passed out, as I gave over the results of this test to God saying that I trust that He had a plan for if I did have to delay my graduation, I was suddenly enveloped in a cloud of peace and serenity that is impossible to explain if you never have allowed Him enter in your life in that way. God provides internal comfort when the world provides conflict and stress.

It's like human love on steroids. Take the best human love you've ever experienced, time it by five and leave the possessive traits of human love out of the picture. I think that's pretty good picture about the experience of God's love.
