...His forgiveness is not.
God loved us even while we were yet sinners but if we don't repent He will not forgive us.
If we don't forgive others neither will God forgive us.
It's not that God is unwilling to forgive because He teaches us that if someone were to come to us seventy times seven we are to forgive him. This is the same way God is because He calls us to be like Him.
If we don't turn from the things we do against God He will not forgive us but this is only the first half. The second half is that we need to turn from the things we do against others.
How can we love a God we can't see and yet hate a person made in God's image who we can see?
We are to love others just as much as we are to love God. To love others unconditionally, as God loves us, will take a transformation in your life through the indwelling Spirit of Christ. This can not be done in the flesh for the flesh must be crucified so that the new life may be unhindered.
Self centeredness lashes out to those who offend. Self centeredness gets angry when people don't appreciate us. Self centeredness breeds bitterness when we're not acknowledged for our good works. These things should not be so in the Christian walk. These things will not be if we truly understand the meaning of the cross in our lives.
To be worthy of forgiveness we must first understand the sacrifice of Christ. Let us live a worthy life in light of what Jesus has done for us.
The alcoholic receives a new liver not to continue in the life of alcoholism. But rather, though his appreciation of the gift, he turns from the very things that destroy the gift.
Just some thoughts for the day...
