God's Eternal Goodness. Grasping the Quality of Goodness in God from Eternity.
As I think and pray to God, I have sometimes wondered how God could be so perfectly good,
and how fortunate we are that He is good. Imagine if He was evil. But then I thought of it this way:
Before God created anything, all that existed was God, and He was good. When He created the angels, there was no concept of evil, bad, wrong, or rebellion. In His omniscience, God knew about these things that didn’t exist yet, but angels like Lucifer didn’t. All they knew was good, and that is all they had thought of at that time, until pride came into Lucifer’s mind.
God being good was not hard for them to understand. They were immersed in a world of goodness. There was nothing to contrast it to. Now ourselves, we are immersed in a world of harshness, pain, crime, injustice, evil, etc. Seeing all of this so often, it is easy to have a hard time understanding, that it is understandable that the God that exists from eternity would be good. We usually see things from our perspective. How much more we would see if we tried to see it from God's perspective. Isa 55:8,9.
