  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

WHO IS GOD TO ME? Well the only reason I'm alive is God. I would argue God is real because I have such a great life, and he has given me tha chance to live and to have such a good life and he answers my prayers so i kno he is there..and it don't really matter if someone else does not beileve becuz they are usually just people who have a sad existance Who are just sad little goth's who can't get a date. Dude! Frappuchinos are good.

Well, now t hat you've heard from the 12 year old dudes, I'll tell you what I think. By the way, I'm 57.

I think we are God, to use your word, all of us, like the fingers on a hand, we are all a part of God and we all have created this experience of living on Earth, being in a world that has a timeline. There is no "exalted being" that looks down on us from above. We are the creators. Sometimes we act on a global stage and sometimes we are a play of one. But Shakespeare had it right, "The world is but a stage, and we are but players upon it".

I believe we have created many worlds, with many different experiences and continue to do so, because All That Is, to use my word, desires to experience everything there is to experience, the good the bad and the ugly.

I don't believe All That Is requires us to worship, fear or exalt him/her as we are him/her. and it would make no sense for the hand to demand that the fingers worship, perform acts of faith, make sacrifices, create rituals or otherwise grovel to the rest of itself. Not only isn't it sensical, but it's downright ludicrous.

We labor under no laws, except the Natural Law of consequences, I whack you, you might whack me back harder. The goal is not to harm each other, but to help each other have an experience. That may include experiencing what it's like to be dependent, so you choose to have MS or some other debilitating disease. Someone else chooses to have the experience of being a caretaker, they are in your life by choice.

You may choose to experience childhood, but not adulthood, so you die young. You may choose to be a fetus, but not a child, so you choose to share the experience of abortion with another spirit who wants to experience some facets of pregnancy but not childbirth or childrearing. No spirit enters a fetus that doesn't know whether that fetus will be born, die in childbirth, or be aborted. In deed some fetus' don't have a spirit until just before birth, some have them at conception, it's according to what that spirit and that mother choose to experience.

There are no accidents, other spirits agree to help us have certain experiences and we have them for our own spiritual reasons. It's only that here, in this experience, we have chosen to not remember what we are, for good reason, to make the experience more vivid, and our goal is to ultimately re-member ourselves. The fingers go back to the hand, the hand is whole. We are now, we always have been and we always will be All That Is.

And yes, Hitler went to "Heaven", because he too was a spirit that agreed to participate in the passion play of genocide and everyone connected had agreed to participate before they came here. Do not mistake that to mean they didn't really suffer, or that Hitler didn't do terrible things. They suffered, he did horrible things. Yet, in the end, it was agreed upon to have that experience as an example to all of humanity about cruelty and hatred towards others.

Hope this sincere answer is helpful to you. I know all the Christians will hate it. But it's my Christmas present to you all. Yes, I love Christmas, it's a great story, it has a moral and the whole thing just feels so warm and fuzzy, besides, "Silent Night" is the best song ever written, in my opinion.

Lillithspeak,

Your words are bliss and indeed a great present. I thank you for your feedback. I feel that you have given me yet another piece of the unlimited jigsaw puzzle entitled God. The final picture is becoming more and more clear...... But the clearer it gets, the more people try to destroy it. They kick the puzzle and I must create it again. It is as if they don’t want to see the final picture. They just turn down the book before they even look at it - so brainwashed.....

Anyway, I like how you explained that Shakespeare was right in that, "The world is but a stage, and we are but players upon it". That really explains a lot. It is really a great way to look at this world - everyone in this life is just helping to write a fiction book and the more disagreement and diversity, the more interesting it becomes. Life would be so boring if everyone were “perfect”. I guess that is one reason people believe in God - they think it is a really great way to look at this world.

Oh yeah, "Silent Night" is a great song.

I have an odd and contradictory perception of God. Half the time, I can't even see any reason be believe in supernatural things at all. Other times, I manage to find reason to believe that Christianity is the only adaquate explanation of the way things are. Somtimes I lean towards various forms of existentialism, other times I manage to conclude that there exists a personal God. I suppose, at the end of the day, I tend towards a blend of theism and agnosticism, generally trust Jesus' teachings, even if I remain uncertain of the rest of the Bible, and feel that my best attempt to sort things out is as much as God can or does ask of me. Jesus said "seek and you will find," so I seek, and hope to find something substantial. I reject dogmatism, and I can't imagine that God will be giving us theology exams at the end of our lives to judge whether we are worthy, but then again you never know.

I'm so glad you took my viewpoint in the way it was meant, as a personal explanation of my belief. Thank you for your gracious reply. By the way I sent you some blessings for your birthday, so now you can do more things on here if I remember right.

Oh, and why do I believe in "God" at all? Well, heck, I look around at how perfectly all of life fits together. The seeds feed the birds, the birds droppings spread the seeds, the elephants tear up the hard ground, making it possible for new things to generate, it's just all too darn perfect not to have an intelligence behind it. Yes, I think we can trace things back through genetics, but I think that it all happened because we created it. I don't believe we came out of the priordial ooze, I think we created the ooze! We didn't evolve from one species to the next, we tried out different forms of being, and chose the one that best let us express ourselves. So, Neanderthal didn't work so well as Homosapien, so we abandoned that bodily form and we went with Homosapien. I think we experimented with many things and still do. We are beings of spirit, we can live in any form we want to, there are no limits on All That Is after all.

This is a much debated topic obviously because people are often very stubborn in their beliefs and there will never really be an agreement that we could all come to. I think my faith is that hope and belief that God is waiting for us. There really isn't some piece of evidence that I could offer you to prove entirely that God exists but I don't think we are meant to have that proof anyway. Of course, I feel that I have been given enough proof through simple little miracles and prayers answered in my own life. There is always doubt in this situation, and worry, but that is exactly what the Lord wants me to overcome. That is what Faith is, its my hope that God is there, my faith that He will save us. Granted I'm only 19 and still not quite as developed in my own faith as I should be. I will get back to you in another ten years with a much better response. lol. God Bless.

I perceive God as the highest power, the all knowing. God to me is love. How could I argue that he exist? How can I argue that love exists...God is something that I feel, just like I feel love. Each person has a different way of describing love, but prove love actually exists. Either you feel it or you dont and I feel God in my life everday.

I have to agree with FervidPrincess.... God is so much more than this percieved guy manipulating everything. He is also a feeling.

You make the concept of God seem clear. It makes sense to look at God as a feeling - a personified ideal of our love and our hope. When you think about it, it even proves how God exists as a supreme being . God is supreme because nearly every human “feels” him and believes in him. He is simply an emotion shared by many people. Until people lose that “feeling”, if they ever do, God will always have a major role in the lives of everyone on this earth because people who “feel” him will always complete their actions throughout life while “feeling” him in their mind. When you really put it all together God is simply a feeling that inspires love, hope, devotion, and good character.........

Does this describe your God Fervid Princess?

It seems to me that God is just a feeling, but because he is such a strong feeling, he has the power to manipulate everything. Does Santa Clause have an ability to manipulate children? He often does - their belief in him often leads to good behavior. On a larger scale, those who feel God are manipulated because God changes the way they act and think. God influences his believers and manipulates them just as any other form of motivation.

God is everything, everywhere. Without God there would be nothing, without God I would be nothing. I feel God's love wrapped around me everyday, I feel God even stronger when I spend time with him in prayer, and I see God everyday through the love that others give me. God lets me feel him through love, hope, devotion and good character, but God is the spirit of the highest power and he is in a form that I have not been allowed to lay my eyes upon yet, but through faith, LOTS of love, and devotion, my Heavenly Father will give me reward. So, I guess I could say that God is also my comfort. He gives comfort to know I am loved and have faith in him.

Sorry, for the run on sentence.

God to me is a being who created the Universe and perhaps much more. God is not a he or a she, but a being that we do not know in the flesh. God is much more than human and we as humans do not create anything. You say, but we created the very computer that I am typing this message on, but really we just organized the existing materials in order to make them work in a certain way. God created the materials and we found a way to use them.

God is omnipotent and all powerful, but God allows us to have freedom of choice. The freedom that we have allows us to do God's will or to do the devil's will. The Bible explains God's Will, but was written by humans and includes many human interests as well.

The creation stories at the beginning of Genesis truly exemplify this point. The first story was written by the Priestly writer, an editor that also was led by God to make the text more like God's Will. The first creation story shows that men and women are equal under God's loving creation. The second creation story shows Adam as a worker and Eve created to provide him company. The second story then goes on to punish Eve for first eating the apple. Even though Adam made the choice to join Eve in eating the apple, he does not receive the same extent of punishment.

I could go on here, but I will stop with that.

Take care,
Troy

I'm a naturalist and materialist. I believe in matter, and energy, and the laws of physics. If you call that "God," then count me in. But I don't believe in any supernatural entities. I would never belittle anyone else's beliefs, but personally, I just can't swallow such things as spirits, souls, angels, demons, ghosts, afterlife, heaven, hell, or reincarnation, to name a few.

That's how I feel, except that as a Christian, I also believe he exsists as a spirit. He can be "physically" present in all the "warm fuzzy" feelings we get.
I think His main power of manipulation comes from learning morality and virtue. I also feel he can hand out punishment and reward instantly or hold off as the situation warrants.
Hope I haven't confused
Blessings
