I was just wondering how each of you perceive God. Who is he to you? How would you argue that he exists or doesn't exist?

I have an odd and contradictory perception of God. Half the time, I can't even see any reason be believe in supernatural things at all. Other times, I manage to find reason to believe that Christianity is the only adaquate explanation of the way things are. Somtimes I lean towards various forms of existentialism, other times I manage to conclude that there exists a personal God. I suppose, at the end of the day, I tend towards a blend of theism and agnosticism, generally trust Jesus' teachings, even if I remain uncertain of the rest of the Bible, and feel that my best attempt to sort things out is as much as God can or does ask of me. Jesus said "seek and you will find," so I seek, and hope to find something substantial. I reject dogmatism, and I can't imagine that God will be giving us theology exams at the end of our lives to judge whether we are worthy, but then again you never know.Bodhisattva4eva said:I was just wondering how each of you perceive God. I'm so glad you took my viewpoint in the way it was meant, as a personal explanation of my belief. Thank you for your gracious reply. By the way I sent you some blessings for your birthday, so now you can do more things on here if I remember right.Bodhisattva4eva said:Lillithspeak,
Your words are bliss and indeed a great present. I thank you for your feedback. I feel that you have given me yet another piece of the unlimited jigsaw puzzle entitled God. The final picture is becoming more and more clear...... But the clearer it gets, the more people try to destroy it. They kick the puzzle and I must create it again. It is as if they dont want to see the final picture. They just turn down the book before they even look at it - so brainwashed.....
Anyway, I like how you explained that Shakespeare was right in that, "The world is but a stage, and we are but players upon it". That really explains a lot. It is really a great way to look at this world - everyone in this life is just helping to write a fiction book and the more disagreement and diversity, the more interesting it becomes. Life would be so boring if everyone were perfect. I guess that is one reason people believe in God - they think it is a really great way to look at this world.
Oh yeah, "Silent Night" is a great song.

I have to agree with FervidPrincess.... God is so much more than this percieved guy manipulating everything. He is also a feeling.FervidPrincess said:I perceive God as the highest power, the all knowing. God to me is love. How could I argue that he exist? How can I argue that love exists...God is something that I feel, just like I feel love. Each person has a different way of describing love, but prove love actually exists. Either you feel it or you dont and I feel God in my life everday.

You make the concept of God seem clear. It makes sense to look at God as a feeling - a personified ideal of our love and our hope. When you think about it, it even proves how God exists as a supreme being . God is supreme because nearly every human feels him and believes in him. He is simply an emotion shared by many people. Until people lose that feeling, if they ever do, God will always have a major role in the lives of everyone on this earth because people who feel him will always complete their actions throughout life while feeling him in their mind. When you really put it all together God is simply a feeling that inspires love, hope, devotion, and good character.........
Does this describe your God Fervid Princess?
That's how I feel, except that as a Christian, I also believe he exsists as a spirit. He can be "physically" present in all the "warm fuzzy" feelings we get.Bodhisattva4eva said:Open Eyes
It seems to me that God is just a feeling, but because he is such a strong feeling, he has the power to manipulate everything. Does Santa Clause have an ability to manipulate children? He often does - their belief in him often leads to good behavior. On a larger scale, those who feel God are manipulated because God changes the way they act and think. God influences his believers and manipulates them just as any other from of motivation.
