I've tried to have it my way and I've begged God to pour His blessing out over it, and He won't. I've tried getting angry, whining, crying, complaining and none of it worked. God was always there, He was always helping me in some way or another, but He won't truly bless a compromised walk with Him. He will let us feeling a dissatisfaction, and that dissatisfaction for me was a removal of His presence. He won't be as near to us as He used to be, because like Ananias and Sapphira we are holding back what we promised to Him. That is, our lives.
We will be at church praising and worshiping, and singing songs which say "I surrender all". Yet, when that one thing comes up, we don't surrender it. Why is that? Well, for me it was being stubborn towards Him. He wants me to fast once a week and I started to do it for awhile and then one day I stopped. He kept bringing it up and I kept refusing to do it. Because of that, I started to live a defeated life. Eventually, I ended up backsliding into an old habit. Thank God He delivered me of that, but the danger was there of really getting backslidden.
Why? Because I was compromising. God can't bless our lives when we are compromising. Instead of blessing, He will chastise us. This is because He is a good, good Father and He loves us. He won't allow us to go play with the devil without making it known that He doesn't want us to do that. If we continue to do it, it gets worse and worse. Just as your Dad punished you worse if you dared to defy him twice in a row.
God doesn't want it to be like this, you know. The scripture tells us that He longs to be gracious to us. He can't be though when we are compromising. The wages of our sin is death. If you are stuck in sin, you need to get it surrendered to God. You have to submit yourself to God, then you will be able to resist the devil and he will flee from you. Admit that you love it to God, and then ask God to make you hate it. Ask Him to snatch the wicked thing out of your hands and make you never want it again. Mean it in your heart and I know He will do it for you. If you want to have a life of victory, you must surrender to Him in every area which you have compromised.
