This morning I was praying before reading my Bible. I was asking for guidance because we've been struggling in so many areas for years. I've only recently returned to my faith and there is still so much I don't understand or know, though I'm trying. While my heart was heavy and I prayed for a message, I opened my Bible to a random page and came across Psalm 116.
"I love the Lord because he has heard my appeal for mercy. Because he has turned his ear to me, I will call out to him as long as I live. The ropes of death were wrapped around me, and the torments of Sheol overcame me; I encountered trouble and sorrow. Then I called on the name of the Lord "Lord, save me!" The Lord is gracious and righteous; our God is compassionate. The Lord guards the inexperienced; I was helpless, and he saved me. Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you. For you, Lord, rescued me from death, my eyes from tears, and my feet from stumbling."
I teared up reading this, knowing I was heard. It always amazes me when I get a sign that God is listening to me of all people. I just wanted to share this for those who might need some encouragement today, like I did.
