Dear Daily Message Readers,
READ: Psalm 56
Psalm 56:3 (NLT) "But when I am afraid, I put my trust in you."
There is a bumper sticker I recently saw on a car on the highway that read as follows: RELAX: GOD IS CHARGE! The driver must have firmly believed this, because the way he was driving would indicate either a great amount of faith, or a large amount of stupidity!
Even though the car with the bumper sticker was gone in an instant, its motto was a reminder to me that God is sovereign and His promises last forever. When everything in my world seems out of control, I am reminded that God is in control. When my day has been particularly frustrating, depressing, or crazy, I recall His faithfulness in times past and meditate on His ability to pull me through. Not only does the Lord know exactly what is happening in my life, but I can trust that He is working His will for my ultimate good (Romans 8:28). I can relax in His arms and His love, even when the circumstances around me send me spiraling downward.
In Psalm 56:4, David wrote, I trust in God, so why should I be afraid?" That should be the attitude of our hearts as we face financial worries, fear of the future, or any other anxiety that would take our trust away from the ever-present, sovereign God.
Faith Lesson: "But those who wait on the LORD will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint."--Isaiah 40:31
