I was doing some sermon prep this afternoon. When I remembered this poem. I thought I would share it with you all in case you've never heard it before. The author is unknown...

Today upon a bus, I saw a lovely maid with golden hair;
I envied her—she seemed so gay, and how, I wished I were so fair;
When suddenly she rose to leave, I saw her hobble down the aisle;
She had one foot and wore a crutch, but as she passed, a smile.
Oh God, forgive me when I whine, I have two feet—the world is mine.

And when I stopped to buy some sweets, the lad who served me had such charm;
He seemed to radiate good cheer, his manner was so kind and warm;
I said, “It’s nice to deal with you, such courtesy I seldom find”;
He turned and said, “Oh, thank you sir.” And then I saw that he was blind.
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine, I have two eyes, the world is mine.

Then, when walking down the street, I saw a child with eyes of blue;
He stood and watched the others play, it seemed he knew not what to do;
I stopped a moment, then I said, “Why don’t you join the others, dear?”
He looked ahead without a word, and then I knew he could not hear.
Oh God, forgive me when I whine, I have two ears, the world is mine.

With feet to take me where I’d go; with eyes to see the sunsets glow,
With ears to hear what I would know. I am blessed indeed.
The world is mine; oh, God, forgive me when I whine.

2 Cor 12:9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."

I dunno if I'd call whining a sin, but when we quit realizing that God's grace is sufficient no matter what ails us, then we start walking a fine line.

I have to confess I am a big whiner.

Then, when walking down the street, I saw a child with eyes of blue;
He stood and watched the others play, it seemed he knew not what to do;
I stopped a moment, then I said, “Why don’t you join the others, dear?”
He looked ahead without a word, and then I knew he could not hear.
Oh God, forgive me when I whine, I have two ears, the world is mine.
This child is my nephew, a lovely blue-eyed boy who is profoundly deaf, but it never stopped him from playing! :) He doesn whine sometimes though! :D It's human to whine, it's when we get stuck in that mode that it is an ugly problem.

But I confess that sometimes I get stuck in whining.

I whine when I lose sight of what is truly important in life - and that is that I have been saved by my Lord, and I have eternal life in heaven. I am here for His pleasure, and to serve Him, and all other things are trivial by comparison.

I am not proud to admit that I lose sight of this much more often than I should.

Does God not like it when we whine? Or is it a sin or something? I think I read somewhere in the Bible about complaining being a sin but I don't remember for sure.
I would say God doesn't like it...just look at what happened to Moses and the rest of the Isrealites. Look at Numbers 11. They were punished yet again when they did not do as God commanded and take the promise land.
