Ask yourself this question.

Do I thirst for the word of God or do I thirst for the world?

Ask youself this question: why am I acting like a pharisee?

Ask yourself another question: If you think that listening to secular music is somehow endorsing the lifestyle the artist(s) espouse or indulge in, do you not then have to ratify the the lifestyles of those whose products we buy or services we employ? Do you only do business with other Christians?

Do you ask the taxi driver if he is a Christian and if his taxi-driving glorifies God before you get in his cab? Do you ask your doctor is he is a Christian and if his medical practice glorifies God before you let him examine us? Do you ask the man selling sandwhiches if he is a christian and if his sandwhich-selling glofifies God before you buy a sandwhich from him? If this is not the case, then you are chasing after worldy posessions!

The problem is you seem to think that Christians are incapable of separating music from lyrical content, and that Christians are also incapable of separating lyrics from the moral/ethical values contained in those lyrics. I am quite capable of listening to a song and in my heart rejecting whatever values are projected by the lyrics. For example, I am a big fan of The Smiths and they had a song called Meat is Murder, a song endorsing vegetarianism and calling meat-eating murder. I have listened to that song umpteen times and have never once thought about becoming vegetarian (except on health grounds). Can you see what I am getting at?

I would also appreciate if you could actually respond to these points instead of just posting another monologue in a new thread.
