“This is what the Lord says—
he who made a way through the sea,
a path through the mighty waters,
who drew out the chariots and horses,
the army and reinforcements together,
and they lay there, never to rise again,
extinguished, snuffed out like a wick:
‘Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.
The wild animals honor me,
the jackals and the owls,
because I provide water in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland,
to give drink to my people, my chosen,
the people I formed for myself
that they may proclaim my praise.’” (Isaiah 43:16-21 NASB1995)
Today is my birthday. I am now 76 years old. It is hard to believe that I am that old and that I have made it this far. So, although what is written here in Isaiah was about the Israelites and their captivity in Egypt, and God’s deliverance of them out of the hand of their enemies, I believe the Lord wants me to share some of my testimony today related to his deliverance in my life out of captivity to sin, and how he delivered me out of the hand of my enemy Satan, and how he made a new way for me, not like the past.
Now I was only about 7 years old when I first gave my heart and life to Jesus Christ to deliver me out of sin and to give me a new life in him in surrender to him as my Lord. And, although I was not a perfect child, I loved the Lord, and my desire was for him to do his will and to follow in his ways, even though I had many obstacles to overcome, like a severely abusive father who was also a legalist who was very strict about certain things while he did whatever he wanted to do with me, his daughter. Very sad situation!
Anyway, I grew to adulthood, got married, and had a family of my own. And my family has now grown beyond just my husband’s and my four children to us gaining 4 in-law children, 14 grandchildren, 2 grandsons-in-law, and now 2 great granddaughters, to a total of 28 of us, and possibly still growing. We did move around quite a bit over the past 50 years, but our family has been fairly settled in one area of the country for the past 30 years, so we get to see our children and their spouses and their children and grandchildren.
Now I followed the Lord throughout my childhood and my youth and into adulthood. And my husband and I were both engaged in Christian ministry in the areas of music and teaching the Scriptures and ministering to the needs of children, youth, and young and old adults. But we did have a down time when neither of us were doing well spiritually, and I did fall into sin at that time. But later on the Lord did revive me and renew me. And after some time he called me to this present ministry, which is now on its 21st year.
He made the way for me through the sea, and a path through the mighty waters, and he delivered me from the hand of my enemy, Satan, and from those who hated me and mistreated me and who persecuted me, i.e. he taught me to trust him in my circumstances. And he gave me a new life, not like the old life, and he called me to write down what he was teaching me each day from my times with him in his word, and to place these writings on the internet so that a herald could “run with it,” i.e. the name of my blog.
Now, although I have taught the Scriptures for about 50 years, prior to 2004 I had not shared my daily devotional times with the Lord on the internet for the world to see and to read and respond to. But in these times of devotion with the Lord, he wasn’t just teaching me the Scriptures, but the reality of how so many of them are being fulfilled in real time in our world today. And so he had me reading all sorts of news articles and articles on history and science and all kinds of subjects I would never have approached before.
And then he had me reading the Scriptures in their full biblical context beginning in Genesis all the way to Revelation, and repeated, and then the Psalms to Revelation, and repeated numerous times. And then, beginning in 2017, he had me using Bible Gateway’s daily Bible verse, only expanded to include more of the Bible chapter’s verses. But sometimes he still has me doing book studies, although not necessarily covering every Bible verse. And he added on song writing, book writing, poetry, memes, and video talks, too.
So, the Lord definitely did a “new thing” in my life, beginning in 2004, which is still ongoing. And I would never have imagined this in my wildest dreams. For it all comes from him, and he is the one directing my path and guiding me in the way in which he wants me to go. He definitely made a way for me in the wilderness that I would never have dreamed possible. And for the past nearly 4 months he has been taking me through a physical trial, but I know he has a plan for that in my life, as well, and he will get me through this.
So, to God be all the glory and honor and praise! Great things HE has done!!

With my whole heart, Lord, I pray
To be Yours, and Yours always.
Lead me in Your truth today.
May I love You, and obey.
Lead me in Your righteousness.
When I sin, may I confess;
Bow before You when I pray;
Live for You and You always.
Love You, Jesus, You’re my friend.
Life with You will never end.
You are with me through each day,
Giving love and peace always.
You will ne’er abandon me.
From my sin You set me free.
You died on that cruel tree,
So I’d live eternally.
Soon You’re coming back for me;
From this world to set me free;
Live with You eternally.
Oh, what joy that brings to me.
I will walk with You in white;
A pure bride, I’ve been made right
By the blood of Jesus Christ;
Pardoned by His sacrifice.
