Does God permit sinful acts to be done to save your own or others lives? I recall when that plane in S. America crashed and the passengers cannibalize the corpses they were told by their local clergy it wasn't a sin.

Then you have the OT where polygamy and incest were permitted at a time.

During Christian persecution if someone didn't martyr themselves and instead did a blasphemous act to save themselves would that equal a legitimate sin?

My instinct would be to say "No". The ends don't justify the means. It's the way we play the game, not whether we win or not. Hope you get a better answer than this one. :)

It's certainly a valid view, though what do you say about the examples I gave then?

It's not the only ones either, Catholicism has the whole double effect principle after all. So does that mean you don't need to confess if you cannibalize a body to survive starvation or kill your unborn child to remove a cancerous sexual organ?

If I were in such an extreme situation as this, I'd be praying my butt off, seeking counsel from God. Decisions like these are not made lightly.

Does the white mist floating over the cannibalized body truly turn blue when the sun comes up?
Do we need to bury the body with honors?
Did the chicken cross the road just to become a Chick-fil-A franchisee?

Is cannibalizing a body that you didn't kill sinful to begin with? There are health issues and an ick factor, but is it sinful?

Honestly I haven't checked for any written word against it. Romans does mention that there is no unclean foods, but cannibalism might count as a sin for desecrating a body.
