God and Christmas​

How does God feel about Christmas? As Christmas has become more commercialized as each year passes, there is much concern and controversy in the church concerning Christmas and its true meaning and purpose. I hear people calling it a “Pagan Holiday”. Those people are wrong.

God just loves Christmas, and I’ll explain why.

In spite of all the commercialization, God loves Christmas because it is about four things that are near and dear to him: The birth and birthday of Jesus – When we celebrate it, God is there celebrating with us. Children – God adores children. Giving – The true Christian spirit is all about giving. Family gatherings and celebration – God loves it when we have family gatherings and celebrate together.

Yes, it is becoming more commercial every year, but, in spite of that, it IS a season of giving, a season where when children are present, the focus is on them, and a season of family unity. That is what blesses God.

This year I had many reminders to use my time well, and choose options that led toward truth and reality.

I didn't think I had been caught up in myth or frivolity (okay a little), but caught myself starting to watch flaky movies or pseudo-Christian concerts, and realized that if I really wanted to honor the Lord over this holiday, I should just move on when those options come up. It wasn't so much a war on Christmas, but striving for truth.

Truth is a precious commodity.

Saying God loves Christmas is saying God loves lying to children, God loves pagan traditions such as Christmas trees, etc. When people call it pagan they aren't referring to what it is becoming, they're referring to where it came from.
