Go back to maiden name after divorce?

My husband of 22 years and I are divorcing. His choice (not following God) not mine. 5 kids ranging from 22 to 11.

I thought about it before and tonight it is on my mind again. Was trying to find some opinions, but not having too much luck. I really dislike the thought of not having the same last name as my kids, but the girls will marry someday and change theirs and if God so blesses me with a man who loves Him and will be my true helpmate and best friend, then I would be changing it anyhow.

Curious what fellow Christians think about the woman going back to her maiden name. Do any of you have a reason for one way or the other?

I never took my soon-to-be-ex's last name, so fortunately I'm not having to deal with that. I did, in my last divorce, take my back maiden name. Just to forewarn, it can be a real hassle changing your name so you'll want to make sure if you decide to go back to your maiden name that you state that clearly in the divorce papers. It makes it much easier when trying to deal with Social Security.

I kept my married name after divorce because -everyone- had that name down as "my" name, and going back to my maiden name would have been a huge hassle. I remarried not long after my divorce was final though, so in the end it didn't really matter all that much.
