Hi watw Are you into doing crafts at all?

I never thought of myself as artsie craftsie until I went to a ladies retreat last year. The all of a sudden out of nowhere I started getting into doing things like that. I don't do arts and crafts very often but I really should. It is very enjoyable.

How about you? Any ideas/favs?

Did you have a person in your life who is your Christian mentor? If so, how did they inspire you?

Christ Himself, I did not have a Christian mentor who I met with on a regular basis to disciple me. That's an excellent question. I wish I could say YES, or mention someone specifically but honestly I can't. Just some really neat people who have come in and out of my life that I think the world of.

Is that what you meant?

church's yearly retreat that we attend in the mountains of southern California. What I enjoyed most was being able to spend time with my sisters in Christ at my church while we learned about the Lord's will for our lives together.

Being able to chat with them and spend time together eating and praying was also very awesome!

The trip this year brought about some things I was not aware I still needed to deal with. I had asked the Lord to show me why I was struggling with some anger issues, and by George . . .when you ask Him . . .He WILL show you. So I really began a much needed healing process that was wonderful as well as the other things I mentioned above that were a blessing.

No, I am not crafty - though I used to crochet when I was a teen. I have tried to be artsy fartsy but I usually just end up making a mess! Do you consider yourself a good cook? And what is your favorite dish to make?

I think that the mess is the beginning of a great artsy fartsy person though . . .that's how I was too!

You know I AM a good cook WHEN I cook. I am single and my kids are grown so don't do much of that anymore. If I have to choose ONE dish as a fav to cook I would have to say my Chicken Fried Steak dinner with all the fixins because it is my most requested dish from others. As well as my breakfast burritos.

I usually make what we call Texas Potatoes with the C.F.S. - they have butter and mushrooms and onions and lemon pepper in them. You can bake em, grill em, nuke em! I also like to have a salad and corn on the cob. And what would C.F.S. be without TONS of gravy ???

So....what's YOUR recipe for chicken fried steak? My DH loves it but I can never find a good recipe...instead of coming out crispy the breading always seems to turn out soggy....

the secret to a good chicken fried steak starts out with double battering:

make a mixture of flour and salt & pepper (and I love tony cacheres seasoning as well, so I add some of that :0)

then mix an egg or two and some (depending on how much you make)

THEN - place meat in FLOUR mixture FIRST, then the EGG batter, then put it back in the FLOUR mixture a second time.

My ex mother in law taught me that years ago, and it's always worked.

Make sure you have the heat on MED/HI

You can use half veg. oil and half bacon grease to help with the crispiness AND flavor!

I always top it with white gravy (1/4 c. butter, 1/4 c. flour, salt & pepper and tony cacheres of course, and enough milk to make it as thick or thin as you like)

Let me know if you need more help with this!
