  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Well, it is coming from these verses:

Ecclesiastes 12:7 ...and the spirit returns to God who gave it..

Luke 23:46
46Jesus called out with a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." When he had said this, he breathed his last.

Whether it means that one 'clings onto life' before finally yielding, its hard to know near the point of death if that's implied whether its 'taken' or 'let go'.

I feel i mean that they left the earth, b/c meaning a child of God we never die, Our spirit.Ghost lives on the only thing that dies is our shell our shell is this flesh we have on out body and houses out spirit. I guess if you look at it it's not them dieing it's them giving their selves back to the Lord .:)

This reminds me of something that happened to a very good friend of mine. He was visiting his mother in the hospital. She was very miserable, and in alot of pain. He told her "You know mom, you don't have to suffer, there's nothing wrong with going home to be with the Lord." She looked up at him and said "You know? You're right." And she let out her last breath, and departed this realm.

I believe "gave up the ghost" means that the person had a choice whether to die or not.
This also explains the fact that Ananias and Sapphira were not destroyed by God, but that they died from fear and condemnation that they brought onto themselves. It says that THEY gave up the ghost, it doesn't say that God did it.
Peter simply had a word of knowledge, not a pronouncement of God's wrath upon these people. God hasn't punished sin since He punished Jesus Christ for our sin. The sin problem has already been dealt with.
