Greetings brothers and sisters,
My testimony is way too long and could be considered self-aggrandizing should I spell it out word-for-word. As such, I am forgoing any full testimony at this very moment and until the Lord cleans my heart of any pride I currently harbor. Nevertheless, I felt compelled to share one aspect as a testimony of faith and devotion so that it may encourage others to do the same and provide comfort to those who have misgivings in thinking it is not possible.
I used to be horribly and abhorrently addicted to masturbation. It was a sick disease. I used to touch myself way too much (even once is too much but you catch my drift). I was chasing a high and it was evident outwardly as I was chasing a food high as well and drugs and alcohol.
I would have to sit down with someone to review and recount my journey to pinpoint what happened and in what stages and processions. However, I can say one day I said no...NO...in the name of God and all that is holy, NO! I am proud to say it has been a month and it has become a lot easier. I find comfort in listening to worship music and singing along, in reading The Word, in witnessing, in participating in good works. Any time I feel the Holy Spirit wash over me it cleanses me of that desire and I can say with 99% certainty I will never turn back.
Masturbation is a sin against God. It is a sin against ourselves. It is a sin against this vessel the Lord has graced us with to learn and study and grow so that we may know Him better and have a closer seat near His Feet in the everafter. God so loves us and He made us in His image; that is why we feel disgust and shame after every time we defile ourselves...it is as if we are defiling Him.
