  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I have this adorable little red-headed "stepchild"--he's a mix of chihuahua and possibly long haired dachshund--He is a very shy little guy, freightens terribly easily, I was told he was basically ignored. I got him at 9 mths and my hubby and I love him to pieces. We have another mutt also. They both have been at deaths door and pulled through. My red-head, Buddie, was paralyzed around Oct of 2010--he and the other dog ran into each other and Buddie went flying as the other one is about twice his size. Anyway--he was rushed to vet who gave him steroids and then we had to keep him restricted for an additional 7 weeks. I did write about this on some other thread. Well, the vet warned us to get Buddie's weight down or he would end up hurt again, he weighed 28 lbs and should have been 15--I got him down to 24 lbs and then my husband took over his feeding. He had healed well and was running around. I kept telling my hubbie that he was not loosing and was gaining and I was getting angry about it. He, of course, said he had it under control. On saturday my husband noticed Buddie was not behind him as ussual and he turned around and Buddie was on his side, unable to walk. Rushed him to vet again and he weighed a whopping 32 lbs!! He gave me oral steroids and a bunch of meds to protect his stomach from ulcerations from the steroids--he was not hopeful, he had not been hopeful the 1st time and he felt he would not make it due to the extra weight. We've given him all his meds as directed, and tonight he was walking all over the back yard! He got away from me. Hubbie and I are both disabled and can't get around very fast. I had been feeding him pumpkin, like I had the 1st time but he had not pooped yet--he made up for it tonight! I was so afraid that this time we would loose him--hubbie was crying and saying he'd do better and not overfeed him again--I just wanted to slap him--but I didn't. We've been granted another miracle. I hope we can continue the weight loss and that he will continue to walk. His back fracture is between the front legs so all four legs are affected. We are overjoyed with his recovery and thank God. The vet really thought we'd have to put him down this time, and if he was not walking within 1 week, he never would. I will tell him tomorrow. Actually, this is the 3rd time he has walked since Saturday--he couldn't get very far the 1st time before he had to give up, the 2nd time he got about twice as far. He's such a cute little guy, it would truly break my heart to loose him.

The little guy is walking around--running even--!! We do not let him jump down from the bed, that's just too jarring for him, we tried the steps that they sell at pet stores, but neither of my dogs would use them. Tried to train them to use them, hubby finnally gave up and took them back. We're just hoping and praying that he will not re-injure himself. Thanks for caring. They are both very precious to us.
