Gingerbread Housebuilders???

Are there any Gingerbread housebuilders out there? If so, what do you use for your windows? Doors? Trees? Snow?


Just as a thought. One year I made an awesome log cabin out of long tootsie rolls. It actually turned out to be a total hit!

I love making gingerbread houses! I am hopining to make them this year also!

For snow i usually use "Powder sugar"
And for everything else random cookies and treats! Yum yum!

I enjoy making gingerbread houses too. I make them every year. It's one of my favorite things to do at Christmas time

Hi. Sounds like you are all having fun. I have never made a gingerbread house before. I don't like ginger, so I have never really thought about making one. Anyway, I found this site that you might find useful:

I was just wondering what everyone else used for their parts because people have said that mine looks beautiful and tastes good, but is VERY different in it's design complex.

Windows: melted down and swirled Jolly Ranchers (ends up looking like stained glass)

Doors: 2 Ghirardelli Chocolate squares stacked on tp pf each other (printed side inward) with the top cut out and another Jolly Rancher window inside.

Trees: Green colored meringue and Pepperidge Farm Cookie stick things (come in a can sometimes) for the trunk.

Snow: A mixture of piped icing, white confetti candy, and powdered sugar, all stuck together with a slather of clear Karo syrup.

Who would like to have a heart attack or possibly candy convulsions? LOL.

we are building a gingerbread castle over Thanksgiving break we will use melted rock candy for the windows and water in the moat.
