  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I was thinking about how Saul sought the medium in order to contact Samuel and it got me thinking about the whole subject of ghosts from a christian perspective. If as christians we go straight to heaven after death where do non-christians go before the judgment? How do we account for ghosts? For a long time much of the church has dismissed ghosts as being a familiar spirit manifesting but I dont personally believe this is always the case. Is it possible the ghosts actually are spirits of dead people who havn't moved on?

Haven't moved on to where?

If you read the account in 1 Samuel 28, you'll see that Samuel told Saul tht the next night, Saul and his sons would be where he was. And where exactly was he? In the earth (v13).

He was not out and about wandering around and there are no indications in scripture about people being scattered spirits wandering around because they didn't "let go" of whatever. Do you know of those verses?

On the flip side, I do know there are verses indicating there are demons wandering the earth, although some are locked up until their judgment, and their mission is to devour people through deception.

Haven't moved on to where?-If the person/spirit was not a christian they will not be in heaven. So I guess the question is do people go straight to hell or end up on another plane, or possibly suspended between here and there until the final judgement.

Do you know of those verses?-No I don't, although there are so many important issues the bible doesnt touch on.

On the flip side, I do know there are verses indicating there are demons wandering the earth, although some are locked up until their judgment, and their mission is to devour people through deception-Yes your right and Im not doubting there is great demonic deception, espeacially though use of ouija boards and consulting mediums. Actually as far as I know, no demon is locked up at the present. I thought the ones kept in darkness in chains were fallen Angels.

What happens to us after we die isn't one of the important issues not touched upon.

Besides, even if it was true and the condemned humanity exists partially wandering the earth, such people would also be separated permanently from the Grace of God and any real truth. They would also be the embodiment on sin.

The time will come when we humans will judge the angels. I must admit I a curious to find out what they've been actually up to, fallen or otherwise, all this time (1 Cor 6:3).
