After so many disappointing false starts, I'm actually engaged. This will be a second for both of us and we both have Biblical grounds for our divorces (lest this turn into another discussion).

I've had many dates and a few relationships in the last 5 years, and this one was only supposed to be friendship because of our age difference (13 yrs). There was no pressure, just lots of fun and great conversation for the first 8 dates until he asked if there was a mutual attraction. We'd known each other in the online world for 3 years before meeting in person. This relationship has been so different than all the others. My other relationships either ended or had major red flags revealed by 3 months. It is so different to have everything progress so beautifully and naturally. And it all started with friendship and a shared interest in motorcycles.

We have yet to have our all important first disagreement, but there is a family camping trip and remodel coming up soon that may offer that opportunity, lol. We're 1/6 the way through a parenting class (with some info on blended families) and have a 2 month marriage preparedness class coming up.

No question here. I just wanted to share my joy and hopefully encourage anyone wanting to be married again. I separated 11 years ago.

Congrats. :)
The wife and I met right here on CF and spent a year just talking before we met in person.
Honestly I wish everyone would do it that way. It gave us a chance to really get to know about each other before all that physical attraction got in the way. We didnt even know what the other looked like for quite a while.
We have an amazingly close relationship with perfect communication.

I definitely think marriage classes are a good route. Another thing I wish everyone would do before marrying, tho we didnt.

:)

Thank you all. I still feel funny bringing up things about the wedding because it still feels so unbelievable. I've had 4 guys start talking about marriage way too soon and too easily and I told my fiance this. It was understood that we both wanted marriage, but he didn't talk about an "us" like that until he presented me with a ring. I knew how he felt about me so only the timing was a surprise.

Starting as friends is something I hear very often, but it rarely goes that way.
