  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Everybody wants to live a healthy life. Let's use this thread as a way to track our progress towards our goals for a healthier life!

My goals-
- lose 20 lbs by July
- marathon in September
- lose 30 lbs in 2017

Progress-
Tomorrow I start my marathon training program which will also be my first workout since having surgery a month and a half ago. I purchased a treadmill which will be arriving on Saturday. Next step is meal planning!

I'm glad you started a thread like this because with Summer right around the corner, many people will be looking to get in better shape.

I want to get in better shape this year, but I may have to put that on hold because I'm planning on going on an extended fast soon and I don't want to expend any energy towards exercising due to my fear of burning out.

Good luck with your marathon training though! I would like to maybe accomplish that someday.

I have lost over 33 pounds this year! :) I still have a ways to go. I hope everyone keeps it up and lives healthy!
This is very impressive! Great work! Any pointers from your experiences?

Thanks! Well, I am a man and I was 50 pounds above my goal. So dropping weight was no big deal. So much to lose! I use an app called "Lose It" and stay under my calorie budget.

Thanks for the inspiration, Peach! How often were you thinking we would check in here with updates?

My Goals:
1. Not to be weak

2. Have better core/back support.

3. Drink enough water.

4. Not eat anything too oily, and skip processed foods.

5. Lose 15 lbs. (I'm not sure how much more. I don't think weight within reason is as important as strength overall. I usually lose weight when running or jogging, but I won't be this time, and after moving there is not a scale in this house :))

How:
Start a light cardio session or equivalent, the next day do a TRX workout (I'll be starting with the beginners level) and keep rotating between these two, making it harder when each become easier. Spend time stretching, and learn to like healthy foods.

However often you like! Report any progress, successes, struggles, bad days, new goals, etc.

Great goals and sounds like a good plan to get there too!

Thank you! You have some great goals, too. I don't have anything to test my results on like a marathon; maybe mine will get an update if I ever find something I want to be able to do. You ran 4 miles and I thought people had to walk some run some to begin! But that's c25k.

Missed my first scheduled run today because my stomach is really sick. Hoping I can be back to it tomorrow. Missing did not feel good at all.

Also going to start 30 days of clean eating Sunday to get ready for my trip to the Bahamas. Any weight I can drop before then will do wonders for making me a little less self conscious.

Justin ran 6 miles and feeling surprisingly good! Can't wait until my swamp cooler gets turned on though so I don't have to wait till 11pm to run in a 'cool' 80 degrees house!

Hope everyone else is doing well and sticking to your goals!! The energy you gain makes it totally worth it so hang in there!

Good for you!

Update: Surprisingly, my second workout was easier than the first, and there was less soreness. That was nice, I expected that to happen much later. I'm not doing them every other day as planned, though.

Currently I'm off my track for maybe the next couple of weeks, but I don't plan to stay off forever. And I found we really did have a scale!

Been sticking with my running and feeling good! Also, starting Friday I'm going to do a week of only soylent for food. I decided to do this for a video, but in my research a lot of people say this is a nice way to kick start a diet. I'll let yall know if it works for me in the way of weight loss.

Hope everyone is doing well and working hard!
