  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Any one out there like these wonderful dogs. I have loved German Shepherds all of my life and some day I hope to own one. I also like rotti's:angel:
 I do!!!! I have a Shepherd Lab mix named Wrinkles. His nickname(one of many) is Peaches. He's going to be 14 on May 10th and I love him so much. He's very smart and funny, he likes to hog the toys from the other dogs and is as cute as he can be.

I was a narcotic / patrol dog handler when I was in the Army. I fell in love with German Sheperds. They are real smart. Rots tend to forget things they are trained (if they are trained on many things) if they are not worked with for a while.

Just to brag on my current dog (German Sheperd). He can get me a rootbeer from the fridge. Then he goes and shuts the fridge. When I am done with the can, he takes it to the trash and throws it away for me. And it only took me 2 training hours (spread over about 2 weeks) to teach him how to do this (plus he can help bring in the groceries).

My dad also likes German Shepherds maybe thats where I learned to love them. My friends grandpa raised Pure bed German Sheperds and some times we would be able to play with the puppies they were so cute

My dad owned Shepherds all his life, ever since I was a baby. Only one at a time though. As soon as one got old and had to be put to sleep, he'd get another puppy. They all had distinct personalities, but they were all wonderful and smart and loyal. They were like beloved members of the family. Some were wonderdogs who seemed almost too smart, a few were lovable goofballs, but I remember all of them as being members of the family.

My dad was a bit of a GSD snob. He didn't consider any dog worth owning if it wasn't a pure-bred German Shepherd. I'd like to own one some day, after we get out of the military.

But knowing me, I'll probably go to the pound and try to find a nice Shepherd mix. Like the mix we own now, who looks just like a Shepherd only tiny, and with a curly tail, because one of her parents was a Shiba Inu.
