God is both multiple and singular. In some places in the Old Testament, He is referred to as Elohim, which is a plural, and other places as El, which is singular. The term Trinity refers to the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. All of these are singular, yet one.

Another way to look at it:
The essence of God is singular, but the personhood of God is plural (specifically 3). Thus you could say God is 1 what, but 3 whos. And as mentioned by the previous poster, Elohim is a plural noun, that functions like a singular noun. There are also instances in the O.T. where Jehovah is conveyed as two separate persons.
Is. 44:6 Thus said Jehovah, king of Israel, And his Redeemer, Jehovah of Hosts: I [am] the first, and I the last, And besides Me there is no God. (Young's Literal Translation)
This is very significant as the New Testament reveals the identity of this Redeemer as Jesus Christ. It is in the New Testament that the nature of the trinity is fully revealed. Hope that helps.

We do not know who "They" are...
I could have been God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Which is a popular one for many, that Jesus was with God from the Beginning. This the Trinity, and that does explain it well.
However:
It could have been God talking to the Angels (There is no time date on the creation of Angles, they may have existed long before man)
In this sense, we know, it was at least Jesus that we was talking to, there could very well have been others involved in this display of God creating man. We could have had a full audience to witness our creation.

So you believe we were created by angels?

Notice, that is says "God made man" not "God and a bunch of others made man"
His first stand was he was talking to "Others".. as far as I know.. and they would not partake in the creating process, but they were simply part of the audience sort to speak.
It could be taken that way, I do not know everything, never claimed that I did.

God is not limited in His dimensions like a man, and not only manifests Himself in all things, but as three revealed persons in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I have no doubt that God is able to be even more if that would be His will to reveal Himself in more ways.
He benefits us all with His presence and manifestations because He is love.
