Well I’m not Roman Catholic, again that’s just as ignorant as certain Protestants who think Eastern Orthodoxy is Catholicism without a Pope. Some of my RCC friends say that ANYTHING that is not Roman Catholic is Protestant. That includes the Eastern Orthodox.
Well as I said in the beginning I dont want to cause a Catholic/Protestant war here, but there is One Church that can trace its origins to the Apostles.Probably so, but that would be true of every other branch of Christianity also, wouldn't it?
More like twelve...and that's not counting church bodies which can reasonably contend that by separating institutionally from some other body, but not to start a new religion, they are actually continuing with all that went before except for whatever corrections called them into existence, just like the famous "tree with branches" diagram that many churches like to use in order to show where they came from.Well as I said in the beginning I dont want to cause a Catholic/Protestant war here, but there is One Church that can trace its origins to the Apostles.
Well, that comparison is oversimplified all right...but not all that far from the mark, if you think about it for a moment and also know what the beliefs and practices of each are.Well I’m not Roman Catholic, again that’s just as ignorant as certain Protestants who think Eastern Orthodoxy is Catholicism without a Pope.
I see it becoming a microcosm of the arguments in every other forum. Not sure why anyone should be opposed.
Calvinism vs ArminianismNot every argument, because it would be for protestants only.
Just move those topics to their appropriate forums like they always do. For example, move the Sunday/Saturday sabbath threads to GT or its sabbath sub forum.Calvinism vs Arminianism
Pre-, Mid-, post trib rapture
Or no rapturePremillennialism vs amillenialism
Or preterismReal presence vs symbolism in communion
Saturday vs Sunday
Ok to celebrate Christmas and Easter; or not
Water baptism salvic or not
Cessationism vs Continuationism
Types of music
Those are all issues within protestant denominations.
Isn’t that quite enough?
Those arguments could all be had in the one forum.
That puts a HUGE additional load on the mods who are already overworked.Just move those topics to their appropriate forums like they always do. For example, move the sabbath threads to GT or its sabbath forum.
General theologyWhere does a person go then when they want a protestant discussion? Do they need to go to the MJ forums? Not if they are not MJ.
I like the idea.
So your objection is that it would be another GT? And whats the problem with a protestant only theology board?
