The Geico cavemen have helped make the insuror the fast-growing car insurance company in the country (much to the delight of Warren Buffet and his stockholders.) The 3 actors playing the roles actually have groupies and are mobbed by fans when they appear in costume.

ABC has now ordered a pilot for a sit-com. The Neandethals will live in Atlanta and date beautiful women.

The 30 second ads are pretty funny, but I don't know if the joke can sustain an entire TV series. (Though the talking lizard with the Cockney accent would be a good sidekick in the next Shreck film.)

Yes, as incredulous as it might seem, it is legit. I think it all depends on how they play it. The premise is that the cavemen are just like they are in the commercials - current day, in our country, they just happen to be cavemen. The show will follow them trying to fit into and lead 'normal' lives. For me the one caveman who's in the airport commercial is the funniest - he owns that character. I might watch if he is committed to the show.

I would bet a lot of people would watch the first episode. Then about 30 seconds after the first episode ends, people are going to figure out it already jumped the shark and stay away from episode 2 in droves.

But no one EVER went broke trying to put dopey ideas on the small screen...
