  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Exodus 16:18-19
18 So when they measured it [the manna from heaven] by omers, he who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack. Every man had gathered according to each one's need.
The manna here in the OT shadows Jesus as the true bread of life. It also speaks of His spoken Word that we are to feed ourselves with every day – Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceeds out of God’s mouth.

An interesting principle here is this:
Those who gathered much had nothing left over. And those who gathered little had no lack.
It’s interesting because you would think that those who gathered much would have some leftovers and those who gathered little would not have enough.

But it didn’t matter whether one gathered much or little. The result was the same — everyone had enough.

This should encourage us because when it comes to our quiet time and study of God’s Word, even if you only have 10 minutes today to read your Bible, as long as you “gather”, God will speak to you and the “little” that you have will be enough to bless you for that day. You will not lack.

It doesn’t mean that the brother who has five hours of quiet time will be more blessed than you because he is able to gather more.

No, both will be filled and will be equally blessed!

So don't feel lousy or condemned if you can only spare 10 minutes for quiet time today!
