Hi everyone

I have a question for the gamers in here, this question is specifically for the Christians.

First off I have been a gamer ever since I was a young child, I was a dungeons &Dragons nerd. I loved the orignal paper roleplaying. I got into everything from Finalfantasy to MMORPGs such as FFX and Wow. So by no means am I putting gamers down at all

Im curious to hear if God was against such games, would you be willing to stop them totally, or would you just continue to do them.

Have you guys ever asked God, "God is this what you want for me"

Personally it is a desire of mine to continue, I was even looking to buy a laptop that would be suitable for gaming (I know limited) But in the end, God does not want me to do it, maybe one day ill play games that God doesnt mind, but the ones I am interested in are not appropriate in Gods eyes for me... Which I have to say is disappointing.

So this really is the end of the road for me.

The Words of the Lord are definitly bouncing in my head

Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
1Peter 1:16

sure I can continue and God will still love me I believe, but I am not exactly making Him my Lord now am I

Soo how about you guys? Are you willing to end it "just like that" If there was a chance it wasnt Gods Will?

not an easy question is it? easier said than done, me thinks.

For a second there, I thought you had mentioned, "God's Wii", and all was well. I'm pretty sure that would be the, er, most Theologically correct of console choices. Alas, all things in moderation. It's like the way people will use a Christian argument against alcohol as long as it is in moderation. If at all.

Of course, on a personal level, I do prefer the 'Tabletop' hobbies purely for the fact it is not all self-satisfaction. There is more socialization required (to avoid becoming a rule Nazi, in example) and you do have to put a lot of time and effort into some of them. I think if you believe you are becoming too engrossed, you could always just stick with Magic, D&D, Warhammer or even Axis and Allies (tabletop and boardgame). Of course, I still have yet to get my Imperial Guard army up and running.

Command & Conquer though? Boots up nice in a minute and I'm squishing GDI scum under-tread in no time.

I agree with Kharak things should be in moderation, thats what I was aiming for when I was gaming.

Even with moderation I know that I have personally been told it isnt so much the moderation but rather the stuff in the games I was playing. I was really into WoW and some other fantasy based games as well.

Sometimes it isnt easy to see things the way God sees them because there are alot of us who are still living "Fleshly" lives.

Or that we compare what is "not so bad" to the things in this world that we personally believe are inappropriate.

Im starting to get into the habit of asking God to whats inappropriate to Him, while I am finding out that I have cut some stuff out of my life, it is the best in His eyes and we should be doing His will and not ours.

1 John 2:15-17 Do not love the world or the things in the world. For all that is in the world the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is not of the Father but is of the world.

The world does not refer to physical creation, but to the sphere of evil operating in our world under the dominion of Satan.
