  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I liked being part of the worship team because there was something to do. That wasn't all, but that was part of it.

So, when politics landed me in the pew, with ants in my pants, I voted against denominationalism with my feet.

We kind of have a group that sounds like a house church or something. This incipient something or other -- a body that prays together and worships together -- has also found access to an indoor gym.

We attract people to worship events with basketball, volleyball and roller skating.

You know, some times the kids are raising their hands during worship, but they are playing volley ball at the time?

The fun part of this New Years Eve event ended up putting a considerable amount of freedom into a worship event. People may say it is seeker sensitive, but I say, Lord's sakes! It is veteran sensitive!

What we seem to find is that there isn't a model or a necessary limitation on worship or prayer. I don't care about balls bouncing or kids yelling. If I want to pray, I pray, no matter the distractions. This is the difference between desire and piety.

What we ended up with is this mass of stuff that we do without much of a name or much discipline in the sense of rules about what we can or can't do. Sometimes we hear people talk about what a specific type of thing will do to worship for good or ill or hinder for good or ill. Mostly we find that none of that wisdom matters much. Not knowing what we are or how we are supposed to do things ends up with a fair amount of freedom.

If you desire to be in worship or be in prayer, you will be. If you like it and desire it, it happens. The joy of the Lord is strength. Not being happy that you think correctly, which is piety. But, having fun.
