CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I once went with an old missionary to deliver food to poor homeless people and orphans in Tijuama and Baja. I went with him and a few young military guys I worked with. I didn't go thinking I was anything special but the young guys I was with were thinking they would be Pastors and missionaries etc... What most impressed me was the wisdom the older missionary had about the nature of what he was doing. He was giving people a few meals to help get them by, while the younger guys were fussing about how the older guy was sort of just petering out in his ministry as he got older.
One had wisdom and the others were so far off base that it was a joke. One young guy even got mad when the old guy took his food and gave it to some homeless kids living in a cardboard shack. It was sort of like the difference between the fathers in the Exorcist. The old guy wasn't seemingly on fire about things but he did know what he was doing and what he was dealing with.
