The water baptism was for the Jew. In this current age water baptism is no longer used and is not necessary for salvation.

Ephesians 5:26 KJV — That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

From Water Baptism to Baptism of the Holy Spirit

  • Act 18:24 And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus. Act 18:25 This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spoke and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John. Act 18:26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly. Act 18:27 And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace: Act 18:28 For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.
  1. Act 19:3-5 And he said unto them, Unto what then were you baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. Act 19:4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. Act 19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Act 19:6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spoke with tongues, and prophesied.
  2. Which he has shed upon us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior; Tit 3:7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
  3. 1Pe 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. 1Pe 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
  4. Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Rom 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
  5. Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Col 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, has he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; Col 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Mark 2:27,28
Matthew 3:11 KJV — I(John the Baptist) indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he(Jesus) that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he(Jesus) shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

Acts 1:5 reads For John indeed BAPTIZE // BAPTIZO with WATER // HODOR

But you be BAPTIZED // BAPTIZO , no Water // Hudor , mentioned , here at ALL , but you will be BAPTIZED with

Holy Spirit NOT // is a DISJUNCATIVE PARTICLE NEGAGATIVE , means it will happennnnnnnnnnn many of these days after .

This definitely show 2 different kinds of BAPTISM in this verse .

With WATER !!

AND without WATER !!

And there are many other kinds of Baptism , like 1 Cor 15:29 called BAPTISM FOR THE DEAD !!

Water baptism is still required. God left a record that reveals no one is excluded from the requirement. Jews, Samaritans (half Jew-half Gentile), and Gentiles were all commanded to be water baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sin. (Acts 2:4-41, 8:12-18, 9:17-18, 10:43-48, 19:1-7) Note: Everyone living today is a descendant of one of the groups mentioned.

The Apostle Paul explained what occurs when people believe and obey God's command:

"Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Note the condition Paul reveals:
FOR IF we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

Paul reveals upon obedience to water baptism sins are remitted: (confirmation of what is found in other scriptures such as Acts 2:38, 22:16)
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
significance..." Romans 6:3-6

"Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning from this Scripture he preached Jesus to him. As they went along the road they came to some water; and the eunuch said, 'Look! Water! What prevents me from being baptized?' And Philip said, 'If you believe with all your heart, you may.' And he answered and said, 'I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.' And he ordered the chariot to stop; and they both went down into the water, Philip as well as the eunuch, and he baptized him." (Acts 8:35-38)

Apparently the apostolic preaching of Jesus to a non-Jew involved telling people about the necessity of water baptism.

The sum of God's word is truth. Everyone is to be baptized in the name of Jesus for remission of sin and they are given a promise of receiving the Holy Ghost. Baptism in the name of Jesus is a reference to water baptism as revealed throughout scripture. (Acts 2:4-41, 8:12-18,10:43-48, 19:1-7, 22:16) Consider Paul makes the point, in his explanation in Romans 6:3-6, that sins are destroyed in the baptism he speaks of. (see verse 6) This truth is revealed in the account of Paul's water baptism as well. (Acts 22:16)

Rom 6:3-6
"Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Weird, in my Bible baptism is with water. The Ethiopian eunuch said "Look, here's water!" and got baptized. St. Peter specifically references the waters of the flood and God rescuing Noah and his family via the ark through the waters of the flood as being a prefiguring of the waters of baptism (1 Peter 3:21).

Since the Christian Church never stopped baptizing, it would appear that nobody bothered to let the apostles or those who learned from the apostles, or anyone else that baptism stopped being important.

Perhaps we should build a time machine so modern people can go back and correct the apostles in what they got wrong. As clearly people think they know better than them.

Having your parents grant you salvation by having you baptized as an infant is in no way compatible with Ephesians 2:8-9 as well as many other scriptures. I believe that churches should baptize, but only baptize those that have made a public profession of faith.

Parents don't grant anyone salvation. Salvation is from God alone. Through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism God acts in accordance with His word and promise (John 3:5, Titus 3:5, Romans 6:3-4, Colossians 2:11-12, Galatians 3:27, Acts 2:38, 1 Peter 3:21).

Ephesians 2:8-9 says that it is by grace that we are saved, through faith, and that this is God's work, not our works. That's exactly what baptism is all about. Including infants.

There is no biblical justification for denying infants and children baptism when God has always included children and infants in His Covenant People and Christ explicitly rebukes His disciples when they tried to prevent the little ones from coming to Him.

Jesus, and His gift of salvation, is for babies too.

Can you provide a list of scriptural accounts of infant baptisms?

Only if you are willing to provide a list of scriptural accounts which command that only people of a certain age, or who have already made a profession of faith may be baptized, or which prohibits certain people (such as infants) from being baptized.

I have Scripture to back up God including infants in His Covenant People.
I have Scripture to back up God welcoming infants.
I have Scripture to back up baptism being the New Testament analogue to Old Testament circumcision.

And I suspect that's a lot more than what you would have to offer if you only have an argument ex silentio.

Most never check the Greek text in Eph 4:5 , ONE // HEIS means just ONE , ONE FAITH , ONE BAPTISM ?

And where it says ONR // HEIS // BAPTISM , in the Greek Text means ONE // HEIS , BAPTISMA . PERIOD !!

One // BATISMA , then means HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM , and the Greek word for WORD // HUDOR is not in the Greek text !!
