From the Outside In
Battles are best fought at night,
In order keep things hidden from sight,
The light may expose all things,
But in the darkness the battle reigns.
Often we fight that which cannot be seen,
A battle of many different kinds of beings,
Creatures that lurk in the shadows of pain,
Hunt and attack us for their own gain.
Their weapons are made not of iron or steel,
The weapons they weald are in the seat of our will,
They attack not our bodies but our minds and our soul,
A battle of spirit that has raged from old.
We battle from the outside in,
Creatures that know all of mans sin,
Stress, anxiety, hopelessness, depression,
These are all marks of the enemies weapons.
No one has greater love,
Than to lay down his own life for his friends.
When I focus on You I get up and live again.
With me alone the battle is lost,
Though the battle is hard and I often feel lost,
I am often torn down and scarred from within,
You dwell with my spirit; I can only win.
